Hi, Everyone.

Thanks for the well wishes.

I was at the hospital from 5pm until about 6:30 this morning. The stone is 7mm, and it looks like they will have to use the "sonic boom" machine (xtracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL)) on it, hopefully Tuesday. I am really excited...

It took 4mg of morphine, and two other stronger drugs before they could get the pain under control. This mix was repeated every few hours. Pain is a good teacher of patience.

The "concrete headed baby", has for the moment, moved out of the ductwork, but I can still feel it bumping around. If I can't wait until Tuesday when the machine is available, then they will have to use a catheter and basket approach. I have to tell you, that sounds most unappealing.

I will try out the juice, Gel. Thanks!

Hang in there HD.

All the best,
-NOPkins-

((((NOP))) Kidney stones are no laughing matter. Everyone here hopes you're feeling better soon ( and we all know you're in good hands with the Mrs.)

Hey, if you have any questions, my brother is a nephrologist. I'd be happy to run things by him. He's a manic crazyman, but he knows kidneys.

Nop,

OUCH! I am so sorry that you are having all this pain. I've seen people with stones - not pretty. I'd take natural childbirth over that ANY day. At least you get a baby out of it! Best of luck to you to be out of pain and have a speedy recovery.

NOP,

Hang in there, man. My wife once had a kidney stone (about 3mm, I think), and was in intense pain. She read on the internet where they said that the pain associated with them was "greater than giving birth, and greater than a gunshot wound."

She said she couldn't vouche for the GSW, but after having given vaginal birth to four kids -- three of them over 8 lbs. 12 oz. and one over 9 lbs. -- she said she had it on very strong authority that they were correct about the other part.

Best wishes,

Choc.
