There really isn't much of a difference between the two (restraining order/order of protection), they both basically forbid the person from contacting or harassing the other.
Hopefully the court assigned lawyers will be able to get things moving in the right direction for you soon. I would just keep on them just to be sure they don't lose you in the buearacracy.
