Best part of the weekend was that I finally got my rifle sighted in. Are you sure that's a good thing?
Based on my last few posts, I can understand your concern about me and my rifle, but not to worry, I'm under control.

Okay gotta climb on my soap box for a moment. It's a very good thing to have a rifle that is zeroed in, because it's a much more humane way to harvest an animal. Now I know how much you love animals, and probably detest the thought of killing one, and you have that right. But we hunters love animals too, more than most people would give us credit for. I am an outdoor kind of guy, bird watcher, animal lover, and hunter. My freezer has an assortment of wild game for our dining pleasure, and I am a wild chef. But here's the deal, why most people should be thankful that some of us still hunt.

It's hunter's that foot the tab for wildlife conservation. Some of the greatest conservationists ever known, where hunters, (Theodore Roosevelt) probably the most well known. I know you'd like to think it's the Sierra Club, or Green Peace, but it's not, not by a long shot, it's hunters. Not only do we pay for licenses which in tern pay for wildlife management and law enforcement, we also donate billions of dollars a year to organizations like Duck's, Deer, Quail, and Trout Unlimited, Safari International, and the National Elk Federation. Those billions of dollars are put to use in conserving our ever dwindling wildlife habitat.

See, all the hunters in the world could'nt kill all the wildlife, but one bulldozer and a spray machine could. Hunters are actually considered a necessary tool for game management. To control population numbers and lessen the horrible feast or famin cycle that mother nature tends to deliver.

Truth is, if we have the courage to accept it, hunters are wildlife's best friend.

God Bless,

COG
