Actually, I am somewhat tired of renovating houses. Every house we have ever bought, in our 20+ years of M, needed some major renovating, usually the flooring and kitchen. I don't mind painting, and sewing, but when you have to replace bathrooms, carpeting, other flooring, doors, etc., then it gets a bit much. I would rather be doing something else. The next house we buy must be finished, and not need anything major.

That being said, I know this is something we have to do, so I am trying to do so in as methodical fashion as possible. H can't do much, since he's at work, and will be away during the week (and he has always been the main worker when renovating ... he is really good at doing it, but it takes time away from weekends, and evenings). Although, he will be doing the laminate flooring in the lounge, dining area, and hallway, next weekend. My S19 will help, I'm sure. I have organized for the carpeters to come in next week to carpet the three upstairs bedrooms.

I have also made an appointment for the bath fitters to come and give us a quote for redoing our main bathroom, and putting a shower in our basement bathroom (which just has a toilet and basin in it at present). Also, need to get cupboards for the laundry room, since the shower from the basement bathroom will encroach into the laundry's present cupboard space.

I have also bought some of the paint for all the doors in the house (I prefer white doors, rather than the dark, faux wood, colour). My son said he will finish the family room walls - they needs mudding, sanding, and painting. I also need to buy curtains for the family room, lounge, dining area, and study. Also, have to get the study carpet cleaned.

Then, come March, I have to find a garden service to come and help me with the garden. I am not a naturally gifted gardener, but am keen. However, I don't want to kill everything, so need some assistance with pruning, mowing the lawn, and weeding the beds, and dealing with pests, getting the right combo for the veggie patch soil, etc. We actually intended buying a house with a small garden, but ended up with almost a quarter acre. Yikes!

If you have read this far, then thanks! It helps get my thoughts organized when I write it down. Maybe not the best venue, but this is all part of the progress I am making in my life. I have been feeling the need for more order, and this will definitely help.
