Good for you, 1210. You told him what is important to you and that you want it respected. He apologized but had to get a "Ya but" in anyway. What does it matter whether you put so much emotion into your animals? Is he jealous? How does it make his life less free because you care for your animals? Hey, if you are depressed and grieving for months and unable to do anything else, well, then he might have a grievance but otherwise...grow up, pal! My W has always loved dance and I had no affinity for it at all but I never missed one of her performances and always respected her love for dance, I felt it made her a happy, excited person whether I shared that love or not (as you know, I've started dancing with her now! Things change). Just because he does not share your love for animals doesn't make you wrong! I dunno maybe I'm overreacting here but it pisses me off too 1210! Be careful.
You are absolutely right. He had two German Shepards at his house when we dated...he fed them, but never spent any quality time with them...he just doesn't like cats. I told him, I prefer cats b/c they are like me - independent and have lots of love, but if you ignore them, they will find someone else to love...that went over big...like, in a big hesitation...
So, yes, it's my ball game, I have my life and am quite content, so, if he feels that he won't meet me halfway - well, there's the door, don't let it hit your a** on the way out...

I buy cases of pet food every two weeks from PetsMart, they have my business...the dry stuff, they eat from a Le Gourmet food container that fills itself when they eat. I don't use a can opener, they have flip tops. My kids eat well...
