You're frustration with the R jumps right out of my computer screen! I can see that your challenge is to accept where he and the R are at this time, manage your emotions so that you inflict no further harm to the R, communicate in a positive way to let him know how the R influences you, and figure out how to influence and help him achieve the behaviors you believe are important for him, and that he acknowledges he needs to work on.
