HP, One thing you can do to help with the floor that will take only a day of time is to put some polyurethane or garage floor paint on it. That will seal up a lot of the pores and make it a lot easier to clean up until you are ready to put your finish floor over it. You might use a waterbased finish so that you don't have the fumes.
