Hi Mermaid,
Quote:

I really like how happy and busy you sounded

I am and I didn't even have to "act as if."

Thanks for your input regarding the Christmas card. I do tend to get lost in the specifics of stuff like that.

Interesting tid bit from 4060. There are several things going on at once here...Oct to Dec, Christmas and also Snodderly mentioned that MLCer often makes contact of some kind 6-8 months after D. This is month 8. H and now XH has for several years shown the covert type of depression but the way he sounded yesterday seemed unmistakably overt. He's shown me a mixed bag though since the bomb so it's difficult to tell if this is really THAT depression. Another factor may be the seasonal "slowness" of his work load. More time to think I suppose when he isn't burying himself in busyness, IYKWIM.

Thanks for the tip on the vanilla. I do like to bake but seldom make the time now. I would like to get some of those whole vanilla beans. I wonder if they would let a person bring something "plant like" over the border. Hmmm

Hugs, GG

GG,
You will and must continue to get on with your life and the life that had no hint of your exh in it. Do remember that this was one phone call, (or two) and not a reconnection. It may turn into something or not, but best to put it out of your mind as best you can I think. I suspect you will do that after pondering this call carefully for a couple days. I do see people including myself, getting all worked up about something that might look like a baby step but is actually just what it is on the surface.

Don't mean to be harsh, but I would rather see you looking forward towards the new and unexplored future, than pulled 'back' by waiting and limbo.

Hi Amy,

It's O.K. that you sound a little harsh (you do ) but not to worry. It's all good and I'm not waiting for anything...or anybody.

Thanks for your concern.

G2,

Great convo. Great job. And I know you're not waiting for him, just rollin' with it.

So back to the alcohol references . . . I forgot about the tequila. Don't know if you're into that, personally it's not my favorite and I don't think I could handle shots of it (and the worm -- fogeddaboutit!) but a frosty marguerita (spelling??) on a hot hot day is just the thing! (Hmm, I am starting to get a wee bit jealous of this trip of yours!)

Ovaltine -- a bit tamer drink -- it comes in powder form, I get the old-fashioned malted chocolate version -- not everyone goes for malt but I love it (thanks to H for turning me on to that!). It's not like other choc milk powders -- the Ovaltine dissolves perfectly whether the milk's hot or cold.

Whatcha up to for the weekend?

Hi Karen,

Thanks for the encouragement about the call and it's still all good...except for my job...possibly
I don't want to get into too much detail but I believe I've mentioned in the past that there are several owners. Well, they are being wooed by potential buyer that shares the building with us and would be in competition and in what could be a hostile takeover. The owners are all in agreement not to sell but the PB will try to cause derision among the owners and "buy" one of them in hopes the others will follow suit. Anyway, the company wants to cut the cord and move to our own building so as not to be influenced by PB due to proximity and because of confidentiality.

To make this short story longer, in a very short time, I may be forced to decide between moving house, moving jobs, or a ridiculously long commute that wouldn't be cost effective and that would seriously mar my quality of life. I will not lose my job, however. This is just based on the locations they are currently looking at. I don't like any of these choices.

Now to the alcohol references. I like tequila but have not done a serious shot since my twenties, with XH no less. I do like strawberry margaritas immensely.

Ovaltine sounds good! I am a chocolate malt fan also and people have been known to turn up their noses when I order one at DQ as opposed to a chocolate shake. Who am I kidding...if it's chocolate, I'll like it!

This weekend I plan to do the stuff I havent been doing the last couple of weekends that I've been having WAY too much fun. Decorating for Christmas, wrapping, cards, cleaning and shopping for the meal with my bro. Stuff like that.

Don't forget the nectar of the gods...amaretto!! It is heaven in coffee, over ice cream, mixed with cream or just by itself. <sigh>

That's funny...I thought coffee itself was the "nectar of the Gods" I suppose it depends on who's writing the book. Amaretto is a little on the sweetish side for me, along with pina coladas but thanks for the suggestion.

Well, I do have a sweet tooth. Coffee is definitely next to the nectar. On a harder note I do like a spiced rum or a good red wine.

I'm rather partial to Irish coffees myself. You get dessert, nectar of the Gods with a pick me up and a relaxer. What more could you want?...except maybe a massage. Then there's the ever faithful bloody mary or "breakfast in a glass." MMMMmmmm
