I agree; a sep. agreement will protect you (it did for me) and is just like the divorce agreement...except you are NOT divorced. Just legally separated. If you feel you need to do something, maybe try for this first?
Most of us really marry only once. First love endures, even unto our dying day. And we never really divorce.
