WED, You are not 2nd best. Your Husband did not "settle" for you. He is still walking around with guilt and shame and it will take time. This was one of my concerns also, and now my H is trying to make sure that I don't feel like 2nd best. But I had to tell him how I felt because he is not a mindreader.
