Since this thread has your name on it, I wanted to ask a question. A major issue in my sitch right now is my oldest son.(22). As I've explained before, he is actually my stepson and is considered disabled with cystic fibrosis. Since he is considered disabled, we can classify him as an adult dependent and we get to keep him on health insurance that way. Here is the dilemma. I have never had the chance to adopt him legally and if W and I are not legally married I can no longer claim him as a dependent. Hence, he loses health insurance and will have to go on medicaid. I took this to an attorney, and she was unfamiliar with any provision in Ohio to allow me to maintain him as a dependent and continue his coverage. I know that in some states there are provisions for continuation of things like health insurance but Ohio seems a bit behind on this. Do you know of any provisions that would help here?
