I agree, he should have joined the Peace Corps instead. Any job in the military is a job to go to war. I did. I was on an aircraft carrier and got deployed a lot - in combat zones. I went to the Persian Gulf in the middle of 120 degree summer weather. Every member of the military needs to do their part, even "Mr. I-want-to-get-out".

I wouldn't worry about this guy if he's afraid to fulfill his commitment to his country. What does that say about his commitment to a relationship?

Just keep being the H you need to be.
