What you are refering to is Michele's First Golden Rule: "Do Real Giving". The importance of doing unto others what others would have done unto them. Her twist on the "real" Golden Rule.
One of the biggest keys to this is discovering how to "listen to learn". It's amazing how some simple, little things you can do for a person can go a long, long ways. Remember, it's not what WE would want, it's what THEY want.
With my W, it's been things like making and bringing her coffee, brushing her hair, spending time with the son, buying her a pack of baseball cards, etc. Nothing real earth-shattering and too tough to do, but things that really mean a lot to her. Keep experimenting until you find the right stuff. And it never hurts to ask.
P.S. Also, learn about the 5 love languages. It gives you a good base to start from. Also, when she does something you like, remember to appreciate it OUT LOUD so she knows. Catch her doing things right. That gives HER a base to start from in giving to you.
