I do believe you've just described my wife as well. Her parents didn't divorce, but her father climbed into a bottle and never looked back. Her mom had other things to do besides emotionally support 5 children.
This wouldn't by any chance be documented somewhere, would it? I'd love to see such a "syndrome" published.
