Of course, you are talking about the other way, but it is the same thing. Biology drives us to preserve our genetic code. The easiest way to do that is mate with as many others as possible to ensure that at least one combination will thrive. Monogamy is exceedingly rare in the animal world for a reason. And humans are animals, just with a brain more capable of creating pathways and connections than any other.
