A friday afternoon thought: How many of you are a stressed out mess as weekends approach, anticipating the worst? Can you guess why I might ask?

Yep that is me. I am like the only person at work who hates when it is Friday! The boys go with h part of the weekend so I am alone. I think about things we should be doing together. I hate it.

I feel the same way however it's a little different for me. I am off on the weekends and my wife's days off rotate on a 4 and 2 schedule. So I don't know what makes me feel worse, when she is on her days off and I am working or when I am on my days off and she is working. I think I feel worse when she is off because she is choosing to do anything but be with me.

Yep I hate knowing or thinking about h being off work and he is spending his time and energy with someone other than his wife and kids. Like right now.....

Yes, I used to look forward to them and now I dread them. They use to fly by and now they seem forever. Knowing I'm alone most of the weekend time, while H is out partying, never giving a thought about me.

I am so thankful that I have a new job that I love. It is one of the few things that has helped me maintain even a sliver of sanity throughout this ordeal. Like many of you, the weekends have gone from being a fun and relaxing time to a slow, agonizing grind. I hate being alone. However, that doesn't stop me from trying new things to keep myself occupied so I am not staring at my watch or the clock on the wall.

I know it will get easier as I keep doing the things recommended here.

I used to be in all your shoes too (at this wayyyy too long). The first year that he was gone I hated the weekends - I had 2 small children 2 & 5 to take care of so I packed them up every weekend I could and we went camping - just to keep us busy and help the time pass and keep my mind off what I didn't have anymore. (we haven't camped since - I think we burned ourselves out!).

A good idea is to make yoursleves a schedule for the weekend - from 8 to 8 and fill the blocks of time with stuff to keep you going - planting flowers, yard work, grocery shopping, cleaning, a movie, volunteering for something, visiting a friend, doing something with the kids
It really does help - kept my sanity!

The weekends did used to be great...but we need to decide to make them better. I am in a financial bind right now due to husband's MLC, but I have found lots of things to do for free. If you ask for help, you'd be surprised. Whether it's going to a different park with the kids or going over to a friends house for dinner. That one has the added pleasure of just being able to sit down and drink a diet coke and talk to a grown up while the kids play with friends.

Totally off subject, one of my all all time fav movies is Forrest Gump...think about the line STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES (kind of fitting for EA and MLC)...well happy is as happy does...make it your goal to go out this weekend and make yourself happy!
