Don't ASSume you are way off in where you think you are... FWIW, I think you have a pretty good understanding of where you are.
Anyway, the trip may have been one of many trips/calls to break things off. And, if she thought she might be pregnant and/or is pregnant, she probably needed to talk to him. As misguided as it may sound, even if she wants nothing to do with him she may have felt it was important to do the test together. Who knows, maybe she had to prove to him that she wasn't pregnant to get him off her back. My point is, you really don't know...
