From what I see, your W is not a stupid woman, and I might be wrong but it seems to me that you somehow revealed something about the bear, or smell, or something. Therefore she knows that you know (something). Therefore for her to leave certain objects where you might find them (let's assume you're not devoid of olfaction) and figure something out, is in some passive-aggressive way not such a coincidence. You know what I'm saying? Maybe you've been detaching so successfully and really got her thinking, that she presses the familiar buttons to get you all revved up again. Just a thought, anyway. Maybe it's pleasant for her to see how much you care and how scared you get. It's a form of flatery, true. Just maybe.
