M,

Any news on the home front? Did SIL move out?

Hugs & prayers,

Hey Sweetie!

How are things in the great white north?

Hopefully, no news is good news....

Wow...I haven't logged in and posted for three months! You guys must be thinking that a) I fell off the face of the earth, and b) I've forgotten all about you!

Well, neither! All of you are in my prayers every day!

I can't believe how fast the summer has slid by. Mostly I have been pretty low-key and just focusing on the slow, quiet rebuilding of my R2 with SO. Everything has been going very, very, VERY well. We have had no arguments whatsoever (remember, SO is very conflict averse), and any minor conflicts that have cropped up have been dealt with very appropriately. When something does occur, we both work very hard to keep it in perspective, give each other time to process, and then, when necessary, just talk about it quitely, calmly and lovingly.

I'm still on a break from my classwork. I missed the registration deadline for term I, but term II is right around the corner in late October, so no loss there. Outside of my R2 with SO, I've also been focusing on my career.

My department finally hired a permanent administrator and he started mid-July. It's really good to have someone at the helm who is accessible. He really seems to be willing to mentor me in my career, but he is very demanding and has very high expectations, so there is no resting on one's laurels!

DD26 is now officially separated. They are still trying to sell the house, and may end up deeding it back to the mortgage company -- one step up from bankruptcy. Not a total disaster, but those of us who've been through the Big D before know how it creates financial tribulations. SIL continues in his downward spiral and is slowly but surely withdrawing from his parenting duties. I hate to see it, but there really is nothing I can do about it. DD26 and I are having a bit of a falling out right now, so I haven't talked to her much in the past couple of weeks. She's rekindled a R with an exBF from high school. It's not that I disapprove, but I think it's too soon, and I've told her as much. But what do I know?

DS23 and DIL are doing very well, back at work/school.

Both DGS's (darling grandsons) are marvelous! They are walking and talking and sprouting teeth and climbing...it's just amazing.

Okay, I'm off to see if I can get caught up with any of you!

So cool to see you again and things are going well with SO. I thought about you a lot but figured you were busy... or or but it's all

Martha!

I thought about calling you a few times, but I figured if SO saw/heard you getting calls from some guy in MD, it might throw a wrench in the works.

It's good to hear that things are going well for you. I'm sorry about DD26 and SIL, but you seem to have a pretty good attitude about letting them each learn their own life lessons in their own lives. Not easy, that.

And guess what? The Vikes just beat the team up the road! Yay!

Thanks,

Joe

Thanks for the update, M.

It sounds like things are going smoothly - very nice goal to look forward to... I'm glad you're enjoying the grandkids and are taking some time off for other things.

BTW, I appreciated your input on my thread.

Best,

Gabe
