Ok, here it is. I figure I have more time so I took the liberty of starting the thread. I hope I didn't step on anyone's toes. Anyone and everyone are more then welcome to join whether they are on a weight loss journey or if they are changing their lifestyle to adapt to a halth style with healthier food choices. Feel free to post any and all low-fat or otherwise healthy recipes here as well!

Not sure how much infor everyone is going to start with, so I guess we'll begin with stats. *GULP*

Me: 31 years old
Height 5'6"
Current weight 145 pounds
Goal weight 115-120 pounds
Plan of action I am following the weight watcher's diet plan.
Current measurements:
Bust 34 inches
Waist 28 inches
Hips 37 inches
Yes, I am disproportioned.

Daily goals:
Stick to my point-range
Drink my water
Exercise a minimum of twenty minutes.

First Recipe:
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups (Awesome PMS snack )
6 well rounded tablespoons of peanut butter
1 container of ff cool whip

Mix the two ingredients together. Put mini muffin cups in 2 or three mini muffin pans. Fill each cup equally qith peanut butter and ff cool whip mixture. Freeze overnight.

Before serving...drizzle FF/SF chocolate syrup over the cups and enoy!! These make great snacks. They are low in fat, have some protien and satisfy a sweets craving.

Anyone else want to post their stats?

Worth mentioning....my stats will change soon. I haven't measure myself in a while and what I posted was from recollection so I am not sure of the accuracy.

I'm moving on...at last I can see...life has been patiently waiting for me.

Cheers--Here's to our health.

We come here for advice, to vent and to share about our Ms, our spouses and our strategies on this journey. By now, we've all learned that the first thing to take a hit is our health--mental and physical. Yet, the biggest step in taking care of the R is taking care of US, and seeing to our health is such a boost.

If we have good health through the journey, we feel good, we look good, we act good and we believe that we ARE good. Of course we are! So, Becca, SE and I are starting this thread in hopes of getting everyone to share the positive parts of their journey as individuals and to finally work towards those health goals that may have taken a back seat...what do you do that makes you feel good? what health goals have you set? How do you plan to get there? Any tips, advice, recipes? Can you join to encourage others? How does getting healthy make you feel good and have a positive impact on your efforts?

Whether you want to run a marathon, fit into those great jeans, improve a health condition or just plain feel good...COME SHARE WITH US AS WE GROW STRONG TOGETHER!

*******************************************

For me:
Age: 31
H: 5"5'
W: 110
Physical Health Goals: good, balanced diet. Cut sugar. Drink enough water. Exercise 3-4x/week (cardio and weight bearing). Complete all annual medical exams (dental, vision, etc). Meditate. Yoga. Better sleep. Regular intake of vitamins.

Emotional Health Goals: Less negative thoughts. Wake up and meditate on positive thoughts. Better focus on other tasks in life (work, etc). Back in regular touch with friends. 1-2 nights/week for ME night/time. 1 night/week with friends. Better touch with family. Volunteer. Read more. Plug away at work goals. Focus on letting go, no expectations of H. Be loving and kind.

Biggest Improvement: regular exercise. Nothing heroic, just that I go 3-4x/week and feel GREAT...seriously has been an anti-depressant on many days. I feel strong and see improvement.

Tips: Exercise in morning, start slow and add 1 minute every other routine. This revs metabolism in morning and lots of energy through day. You are hungry for breakfast and burn it faster.

Healthy Recipe: Quick breakfast: 1 can of Slimfast or 12 oz soy milk + handful of frozen berries in a plastic bottle...shake and drink. Protein, fiber, 1 serving of fruit and antioxidants. Can add coffee to the shake for flavor and caffeine.

I was a bum today, but intend on taking a 1 mile walk.

Oh puh-LEASE you two.

W: <cough><cough>195<cough>
H: 5'10

Goal weight: 175. I am comfortable and confident there. Would like to get back to about....145, that for me is pretty thin.

No idea what my measurements are but I am fairly proportionate. My biggest problem area is my waist/hips. I have a high waist, so immediately below there is this horrid spare tractor tire.

Have not yet developed an eating plan, I honestly believe if I just eat LESS, the weight will come off. I have to stop eating out and start eating proper portions.

Becca, when I lost weight, what worked for portion sizes was to eat until I felt 3/4 full, not completely full. Just enough to take away the hunger feeling. Also, you can space out the meals...eating a few times/day. You can eat 1/2 lunch at noon and the other half at 3pm.

I stopped eating out a LOT and it really helped as well.

My goal for next week: Drink 5 glasses of water/day. Take my vitamins daily.

Small, sustainable steps, right?

Ok...I'm quite proud of myself!

I went to the buffet with my family and the first thing I did was make a HUGE plate of zero point (WW's) salad. With FF Italian dressing. I made sure I ate it ALL before anything else. Then, I had fish, cabbage, a little bit of corn, FF Frozen yogurt and used some point on a dinner roll and a *small* amount of apple cobbler. All in all, I have only used 16.5 of my 18-25 points today. I can still have two glasses of wine with H tonight and bank some points!

We went grocery shopping to stock up for the next week while H is gone. I bought a TON of healthy stuff. Yougurts, rice cakes, WW's desserts...2 cases of water. I am happy I have made it through my first day...and I am stuffed. No more eating needed tonight.

On the down side, I got no exercise today other then cleaning the house. But...like you say Always...small steps. I like your 3/4 full theory. THat goes along with the WW's Core plan idea.

How did everyone else do today?

I did not do so well. I ate a Ciabatta burger from Crap in a Box and a bowl of lucky charms.

On the other hand, I took all my vitamins and thyroid pills and burned about 6000 calories tilling that dang yard, so we will call it even.

You know what a major issue I have is? I'm lactose intolerant, so healthy snacks like yogurt and stuff are out. I can eat some cheese but yogurt and milk make me blow up like a baloon. I have soy milk but haven't been very successful in finding other soy products.

Hahaha.....yeah, that looked like a whole lot of work!

On the lactose intolerance, can you take lactose pills to help you digest it better? I have food intolerances myself. I have other GI problems but my GI thinks I may have lactose intolerance as well. I cannot foods that are high in insoluble fiber.....which unbeknownst to me....I have eaten quite a bit of lately and just found out last night. Ugh.........dietary restrictions stink. I have tried soy milk, I can't do it. THen again, I am not a huge dairy person.

I'm surprised that yogurt flares your lactose intolerance. It's usually one of the more tolerable foods because of the live enzymes. Just goes to show you everyone is different!

Actually, the 8 continent soy milk is pretty good. It is not "milk" but once you go through about 2 containers of it, it tastes pretty good.

I read that also, that the acidopholus or whatever in yogurt should keep me from being so intolerant but I eat one small container and I blow up.

I'm going grocery shopping tomorrow and we did NOT go out to eat for dinner tonight! I'm making the kids sandwiches, I'm still full from my bowl of lucky charms. You know, with my coffee, Crap in a Box and Lucky Charms with Soy milk, I probably still had somewhere around 1500-1700 calories today, which is not that bad. Tomorrow will be better.
