Anyway, text message was a success and he replied straight away saying thanks.
Yes there was still a certain amount of deliberation over this birthday thing. Sending the text only is a real 180 for me. Generally I made a big fuss of birthdays as wah's family inevitably forgot.
But I sensed my the lack of contact of late, that he is probably troubled by it all, and decided a jokey text probably the best.
Drama of sorts. When S14 woke up I reminded him to call his father. He said he was having lunch with him anyway. Now apparently, the night before wah rang S14 directly on the mobile to ask him to lunch. I didn't even hear the phone, but that was the night I had friends over, so things probably noisy. S said it was late.
After they all left about 1130, I noticed S14 rather upset. Looked like he had been crying. Wouldn't tell me why. My first thought was I had said something about wah and he had heard. But no I hadn't and generally don't say much to friends anyway.
So he was upset about the call. Didn't want to discuss it , so I let it go.
I was out when he got picked up, and then got home at 2. He was already home. So he had been picked up at 12, gone to lunch with wah and ow and back by 2. Not very happy, said wah didn't even open the present (but did say thanks).
I have to admit my first thought was to text wah and just ask him if he even thinks about the impact this has on S14. Didn't though as I know he doesn't. He seems to have cycled back to where he was shortly post bomb, where distancing himself. Probably due to the fact he turned 40, and has big issues about that. Anyhow not my problem.
Anyhow, that night S came into my room and we hung out and watched George Clooney in "Out of Sight" and ate jelly snakes and mucked around. Dogs loved it as they snuck on the bed and we would give them a snake to have a tug of war with. Lots of laughs. So he will be ok. Touched on it slightly.
