they started me on thyroid when my numbers were high. Told me it was to treat the goiter. first dosage number came back low, but goiter growing, HMMMMM, second test due to a ER visit colapsing at the top of the stairs and my H overreacting. Numbers high, recheck by Dr. numbers high, lower dosage, recheck numbers good. It was at the ER that I was told that the purpose of the thyroid replacement meds was to shut my thyroid down and that once that happened that I would need to take the meds forever. My Dr. never bothered to mention that to me.
