HP LaserJet 1020 Printer (Q5911A) Specifications and Warranty The toner cartridge should print twice as many pages as the ink in than your bf's ink jet printer. Toner cartridge page count is rated at 2,000 but expect 1,600. About the printer, I have never worked on any. Too new, low priced printers people usually don't repair. It should be a good printer. The toner cartridges are good but they skimped on the amount of tone put into them. There is a 12X tone that prints over 3,000 pages.
Quote: I think it's $99
Some places sell refurbished models. Most of the time they are new printers but with a shorter warranty. Some are actual warranty returns that have been repaired.
Some printers have partially filled toner cartridges with a new machine. Cartridges ending with the letter "A" are standard cartridges. If they end with an "X" they have about 30% more toner in them. If they end with a "G" they are half full compared to an "A" cartridge.
The printers I work with have toner cartridges that print 6,000 (98A $60 for a good rebuilt) to 20,000 (81X $125 for a good rebuilt cartridge) pages per cartridge.
This LJ-1020 takes a Q2612A (12A) and you can find good rebuilt cartridges for $40 to $50, which is .02 to .025 cents a page. The 98A's are .01 cent a page and the 81X's cost .00625 cents per page.
A good used LJ-2100 is also a very good printer. It takes a 96A toner and prints 4,500 pages per cartridge and they sell for $60 for a good rebuilt one.
One hang up or benefit with the LJ-1020 has a USB port. Make sure your computer has a USB port. Some older computers only have a parallel printer port/LPT1, that big wide thing we talked about in your LJ-4L printer. (toner cartridge 74A 3,500 pages)
Lil I saw you this afternoon at Costco. You were singing using a karaoke device that has a computer in it. The computer rates how well you sing and scores you something like that " TV program, “American Idol. You sang very well, nice voice, everyone applauded when you were finished singing. The karaoke machine rated you a pro. Any way it was nice to see you. Sorry I did not say anything to you. Nice hair BTW.
I thought there was one cute older guy who was eyeing me more than the others! I thought it was because I was doing a medley of Cole Porter tunes, and whenever someone requested a song newer than 1972, I had never heard of it!
Actually you did hear me singing yesterday-- we had our choir concert and it was wonderful! BF sang his solo and wa excellent!
This printer does take the 12X cartridge. You are such a wealth of techie information! Maybe you can tell me why I opened my Palm desktop (on the computer) and 80% of my calendar entries had disappeared. That happened once before about two months ago, and I didn't know why it happened then either. Fortunately I noticed it before I hotsynced, so all the info is still on the handheld. One might think it was a memory issue, but then you would expect the info to disappear from the handheld where memory is limited, and not from the desktop where there is plenty of memory. I've searched for this prob in the Palmone.com "knowledge library" and haven't found the answer yet. I was so rattled when it happened that I wasn't thinking clearly.
I will have to listen more carefully for his songs in the future. Do you and bf ever do something like "Unforgettable” like the popular Nat and Natalie Cole re-make?

Maybe you washed your hands too vigorously. Was the ink waterproof? That was a red-neck answer Lil. I have one but rarely use it. If my Quickbooks accounting software would fit in and run my business I might use a Palm" device.
Back to what might have happened,

From what I know when things are written to a hard drive, and kept track of somehow. (picture a room with numbered shoe boxes) If the location of the box is lost or the number on the box evaporates, to the computer/software that information does not exist even if the thing you want is in it's original box.
Sometimes when I try to recover files using Norton Utilities, I see files with the first character missing. example I live on (123 Easy Street). If I erase the file then use Norton to look for it, I will find a file named (_=blank space)_23 Easy Street. If I use Norton and replace the _ with any letter or number, in this case if I knew the original number, I put a 1 where the _ was, all the information that was in the file is there9 unless some other program used some of the old files space.
It seems, removing the first character of a file signals the software the space occupied by the old file named 123 Easy Street is available for new files to take over that space, not that it always happens soon.
Data on hard drives is really only magnetized spots on a disk. If the magnetism on a disk gets lost or messed up the data is messed up too. So maybe something happened to the magnetism where your palm information was stored.
So there might be 3 or more things that influenced the lost of your data. a)Storage address written wrong, b)storage address of file wrong or damaged, c) magnetism (in that spot) of the hard drive changed. If c happens a lot, do a scan disk, and if it continues get a new hard drive.
Most likely many other things that cause lost data. I am no expert and have only read a couple of books so I might be technically all wet on some of my explanations.
Quote: You're a peach!
Throw in some banana, pear, grapes, and a couple cherries. I have some in the frig.
PS the seeing you in Costco. It was just one of those synchronicity things. I was looking at printers while grocery shopping and there was this 50/60 something lady singing up a storm that looked so happy and you could see she was having fun. I don't think the rest of the 100 people that walked by and glanced at the Karaoke machine would have even dared to try to sing. It was good to hear her voice and wonderful to see her just go for it and "do it."
Even though I have not seen a picture of you, don't know height, weight, hair or eye color, it was one of those moments that said to me "that is Lil's soul sister." In reality maybe you two don't even sound alike but I bet the abilities match.

That's sweet, Lou.
Hairdog asked if I might exile myself from this board after I go head to head with Mrs. NOP, but I feel so involved in this group. I think about the people here all the time with great fondness and ponder people's situations and problems as I go through the day. That was the origin of my "casting call" post. I was walking and realized that in my head karen's voice is the voice of Susan Page who sometimes takes over the Diane Rehm Show. It's so interesting to have a group of "friends" that you've never met in person, you don't know what they look or sound like, but you're privy to very intimate details in their lives... And the fact that we can communicate instantly day or night. It really fires up the imagination.
BTW, what have you decided about meeting SD on your vacation? She sounds like such a lovely person-- and fun, too-- great sense of humor. I hope you do get to meet!
and I come back with Throw in some banana, pear, grapes, and a couple cherries. I have some in the frig. Note to self/Lou. Next timer someone pays you a compliment don't come up with something that deflects it. Just say thanks. end of note to self.
Thanks Lil.

Thanks again.

Me too.

I would rather have the internet than TV most of the times. Well the internet, Discovery Channels and History channels. add ???????? I guess I need both.
Quote: what have you decided about meeting SD on your vacation?
I want to but still don't know about BB's feelings.
Quote: She sounds like such a lovely person-
I had a dream about a female that was the salt of the earth type of personality. I think the female was SD. I posted it yesterday on another forum.
I have the whole dream figured out but want to see what another dream interpreter thinks before I post my impressions.
Lou--Do you really think BB will mind if you have coffee with a lesbian friend?
Hmmmmm. Somehow, I just can't imagine that being an issue for the average woman. But I suppose BB isn't really average, so maybe you're right.
SD is a lovely person. I happen to think that her BB moniker does her a disservice, because her physical presence is anything but a semblance of it. She's petite, on the quiet side and down to earth. And she's got a really pretty face with gorgeous blue eyes.
SD, if you're reading this, good! I have to sell you since you don't.
Um, perhaps my description of her has you wondering if I play for her team? The answer is definitely no. Give me a tall, hard male any day...
If we get to vote, what's the harm in meeting a friend?
Betsey
"There are only 2 ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle."
My H would take issue with it if I met up with a male gay or not. You never know if you will be the one that temps them to the other side in his opinion. Plus he is just insecure period. I have a couple of girlfriends that are bi and he likes them but for me to spend time with them without his company is problematic also.
SD sounds simply beautiful from your discription.
Might want to leave that info out if you talk to BB though Lou. But I give you credit for worrying about what she would think under the circumstances.
Quote: Lou--Do you really think BB will mind if you have coffee with a lesbian friend?
BB is of the general opinion "chat sites" what BB thinks this board is, are nothing but trouble and will site the case where a won had a baby cut out of her, that started out with dog interests. BB goes over board on many things. I am used to some of her overly fearful issues. I used to try to tell BB things that would lessen her anxiety but have decided I was not helping her.
Betsey, thanks for visiting my thread. I think some of the people here should read your thread. You write so well and have articulate friends.
Because you have read so many books, which one (other than DB, PM, 5LL,) would you recommend to a guy (me) who has some traits like MR W. that used to interact with the old/previous version of underdog. (Note to Lou, gosh I can't believe I wrote "old." Betsey might think I am calling her old and I am almost 16/20 years older than she is. Note to self, change “old” to previous)
About SD, Yes she comes across as a very caring person that has a lot of patience and integrity.
You playing for her team? Hay come on Betsey, I read your steamy post about guys! I also see you are very friendly to gay and lesbian people in general and know how to interact with them and have everyone be comfortable.
Quote: If we get to vote
Well you kind of get a vote. My main purpose was to gather opinions and look for problems that I might not have seen. I am an intelligent person most of the times but do realize if I miss some points that are not measurable.
Example; A retired male friend (never married, few girl friends, he mows grass for widow ladies in the neighborhood) was caring for his invalid mother for over a year. She died so I made lunch and had him over for lunch 2 times in 2 weeks. Someone said to not invite him so often because he is going to feel obligated to return the favor.
I was thinking, "obligated because of some pre-cooked sliced ham and au'gratin potatoes from a box?" What am I missing?
SD I hope none of this discussion bothers you in anyway.
BB worries a lot about the most unlikely things. This week she had the electric company not liking our community when the power went off during a windstorm.
Today she said, "What if you have a heart attack" about something I don't recall and when she heard the TV news that air cargo was poorly inspected for explosives. She said I should consider not flying. I said Oh; I guess I should buy more life insurance. How much was that condo you wanted? I was going to seriously ask "how many planes blew up this year" and when she said "none" I was going to say "I guess it is safe to fly" but thought, no that is just getting into her stuff. It is better to not say anything.
I am getting better at not trying to fix her anxieties and staying out of her crappy notions.
Quote: But I give you credit for worrying about what she would think under the circumstances.
Concerned or worrying is the right word. I guess it comes from those church policies that the woman's husband has to be there or you have to bring your wife if any male visited any female. Those 1950's "Leave it to Beaver" values die hard. I think most married couples on TV then had twin beds. Not very realistic.
Quote: I AM a financial advisor, I don't work in the field but I am trained, but he does not think I know what i am talking about)
Glad to hear you have the $$$ training.
I used to work in an auto repair shop. Sometimes I had to get the vehicle's registration out of the glove compartment. I would sometimes find 2 to 4 payment there too. I almost always thought, just married, payments for the car, stereo payments, furniture from the rental store, and a regular cash type loan for who knows what, these newly married kids will be in hock for the next 10 years at the rate they were going. What happens if a baby comes along?
