Hey, it said on the web that they are mainly selling nosebleeds unless you want to sit all by your lonesome. So if that turns out to be the case I won't get any. If you get some good seats feel free to invite me. I might even drag that bulldog out of the dark so he doesn't feel all rejected. :P

JM--I wish! My ticket providing colleague is keeping them all to himself. Which is exactly what I'd do if I were in his shoes...

I dunno. Denver. January. Outside. Iffy. Makes me think our living rooms are better places to hang out anyway? Maybe by saving our money we could make bets instead?

Hey Jay,

I don't think your line of thinking is out of line at all. i believe most all of us go through the ups and downs for quite a while. Wanting it, not wanting it, somedays not really sure what you want. I read a post somewhere here a few days ago about not wanting to start a relationship with someone else because of the "what ifs ". But if you do start a new relationship and find everything you want the "what ifs" don't matter any more. It's their tough luck. I haven't called or communicated with XW since a few days before xmas. I was cordial to her and bought her some chocolates and gave her a xmas card and her only response was "what's this for ?" Duh !!!! So I am trying to stick to my guns and having no contact. I'm tired of being the Mr nicey nicey guy all the time. Damn it I'm worth having and if she wants me let her come and get me if not C ya later. I'm not getting any younger. I guess we all reach this point sooner or later. Although it's not firmly embedded in my psyche yet, it will be in a matter of a short time.

Hang in their Jay. I'm working and taking care of my kids and my home. Doesn't leave time for much else anyway. Patience is the most difficult lesson life has to teach.

Hang in there brother ! Dave A

I saw yesterday on a blog a couple of people bashing their Ex. My ex would be pretty quick to join in the bashing even though "there used to be a time I was all she ever wanted." (lines stolen from a song). The sweet nothings she used to tell me such as "I'll love you forever", "I never thought I could love someone as much as you", etc are now something she tells to people she has never met except through e-mails. Now I'm a mistake she made, a self-centered jerk, etc. and life is just grand as long as I'm not around. So this is a timely OM, many of the faults and problems attributed to me/us isn't about me at all. I already knew this, but it's worth posting...

Reversed Perceptions
Projecting
We all have issues, as well as undesirable qualities or traits that we don't like about ourselves. Most of us realize that we are not perfect and that it is natural to have unpleasant thoughts, motivations, desires, or feelings. However, when a person does not acknowledge these, they may ascribe those characteristics to someone else, deeming other people instead as angry, jealous, or insecure. In psychological terms, such blaming and fault finding is called projection.

When we are the target of projections, it can be confusing and frustrating, not to mention maddening, particularly when we know that we are not the cause of another person's distress. Even people who are well aware of their issues may find that sensitive subjects can bring up unexpected projections. They may feel insecure about a lack of funds and thus view a friend as extravagant. Or, if they really want to get in shape, they may preach the benefits of exercise to anyone and everyone.

While we can try to avoid people we know who engage in projecting their "stuff" onto others, we can't always steer clear of such encounters. We can, however, deflect some projections through mindfulness and meditation. A useful visualization tool is to imagine wrapping ourselves in a protective light everyday. At other times, we may have to put up a protective shield when we feel a projection coming our way, reminding ourselves that someone else's issues are not ours. Although it's difficult not to react when we are the recipient of a projection, it is a good idea to try to remain calm and let the other person know if they are being unreasonable and disrespectful. We all know that it's not fun to be dumped on. Likewise, we should be mindful that we don't take our own frustrations out on others. When we take ownership of our thoughts, motivations, desires, and feelings, we are less likely to project our issues or disowned qualities onto others.

See, DBing works. I distance, stop pursuit, go dark and look what happens. Me is drawn back to...er,um...me.

That just sounds weird. Like I'm drawn to myself. Which I am. I think I'm pretty cool. What were we talking about again?

This ramble was brought to you by the makers of Lexapro. Not to be confused with Laxapro, which has an equally cleansing, but different effect. Trust me, I found out the hard way. Always read the label.

Aaaaaaand...scene.

How does we know when we are dong the projecting? I'm so tired of analyzing everything and trying to make sense of something that's probably senseless anyway.

You know what makes sense to me right now?

Happy New Year!

Thanks,

K
