Hey there,

Saturday I went to watch my step-S play b-ball--it's still a work in progress but he's learning, then he came over to play games on the 'puter and my step-D went shopping with me. I had a great time. I gave her some money to do some shopping. There are some great lessons about Christmas that can be learned from kids. For one, she made the money go a long way and secondly, she got a lot of joy out of looking for presents for others. It was great seeing her thrilled with her purchases. Then I came home and they hung out with me for quite a while. I had made plans for a movie and it was cute how they wanted to go along...they would just watch something else.

This may be the last year they are in town and I'm feeling sad. Eventually there will be a new step-dad or at the very least they'll be far away and will move on with their lives as kids do. They are sweet kids and I wish I'd appreciated that sooner. But that's water under the bridge and I can only take advantage of times I see them now.

In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.
