Heard today from my mother that my cousin died of a heart attack this weekend. Very sad, he was only 48, and his younger brother died this summer of the same thing. Their father died in his 30's when we were kids. So much tragedy in that family.
I hadn't been close to this cousin as an adult, but would see him occasionally at family events. I have fond childhood memories, though, of sleeping over at my aunt's (his grandmother's) with him, and us doing Jack La Lanne exercises along with the TV in the morning along with my aunt!
Let's all go out today and take really good care of our own health, okay?
I'm also sorry to hear about your cousin's passing. It's hard to stay close with "extended family," especially when we move all over the continent and beyond these days. Those childhood memories are worth so much, aren't they?
Thanks for the advice to take care of ourselves, too. How are you doing on that? Did you and your cousin share a family history of heart disease? I know this must be me preaching to the clergy, but STBXW's family has such a history, and I seem acutely aware that my kids share it, so I harp on it a lot.
Thanks,
K

Koshka - actually, my cousin's heart disease undoubtedly comes from his father, not my blood relative, who died of an MI at 39. However, my own father did die at 51 of an MI, so I am concerned for myself. He, however, had a history of rheumatic heart disease when younger, and smoked 4 packs a day. None of his 7 siblings died early.
My "time of the month" arrived at last, and after a couple of weeks of feeling bloated and rather less than great, I have felt an upturn just in the last twenty four hours, and I am back down to 67 kilos, so I have lost a kilo this month in total!
Well, at least I didn't stay the same or put any more on!
Even my back felt bad recently, and just this morning feels FINE! Yay!
How about you all?
