Had a brief chat with GBO this morning. She's doing okay, still with the nice boyfriend who treats her well. Her H is starting to really spin now that they are working through the divorce details and she is dating. He sends her all kinds of nasty emails (I told her about the trick of turning all his "you"s into "I"s to hear what he's really feeling when he's projecting all his stuff onto her). Then brings her back a thoughtful trinket from a trip he took. Took a 2-week trip with OW right before a 1-week business trip, then complained to GBO that she doesn't let him have the kids enough!!!
She's in a pretty good place, though, able to detach from his drama and not get sucked into it, forwarding his emails to her lawyer. It's sad, really, how MLCers start to panic when they finally start getting what they asked for (divorce and OW), and how they deal with it by projecting all of their negative feelings about themselves onto the LBS. Pretty textbook, I'd say.
LNL - Measured myself last week, waist was 30", behind was a frightening 45"!! (Although, I may note, I am naturally quite broad in the hips, so that even when I was quite underweight, my behind was never less than 38". Can you say "pear"? ). My goal is to get back to a waist of 25 - 26 (norm for me) and behind of 40" or less. (Didn't measure my bust, it's plenty big enough though! I was always fairly small-busted when younger, it's been the only compensation for the weight gain, that now I have large breasts!).
Did anybody else see the Oprah show yesterday? She had a whole show on proper fitting of bras and jeans. Something all of us can do to instantly look thinner, is to get a proper fitting bra - cleavage, btw, is a powerful secret weapon! - and wear some really proper fitting jeans with heels to elongate the leg. I'm going to check out her website - I'm betting maybe they put some additional technical info there?
I agree...a great bra can make all the difference. As someone in the DDD club, I've found the Bali Satin Tracings minimizer bra works wonders. It is very supportive and gives a nice shape without squishing them. I can actually button shirts.
Cleavage is a very powerful weapon! In fact, we were having a discussion here at work. I might be going to manage our new feed store in town and the mill manager wanted a middle aged guy with sh*t on his boots and i said that cleavage will sell more feed than sh*t any day of the week!
I have to say...your measurements still sound very healthy....I understand wanting them to be smaller but be proud that you are an attractive and sexy woman just the way you are!

Thanks, Becca Actually, i do still look good with clothes on - I guess that's how I let myself get this far! But in truth, I know that the truly healthy weight for my slender frame is between 130 and 140 (depending on how much I build my muscles).
Jeez, Ellie, can I have some of your breasts? I had them with the extra weight, but I'm back to my prepubescent status now. Oh well, I've been told I look like a taller, more modern Audrey Hepburn. I think that will do just fine... Now, to land roles opposite a modern day George Peppard in New York!

This range was true for me too when I was younger. But have you ever seen a middle aged person whose face looks... gaunt and older... because of those few extra pounds lost?
When I was on this path, I set myself a goal of 140 too. But when I got to 145, I looked at myself in the mirror and really liked what I saw. Some qualified input from good friends helped me accept that I looked best with a few extra pounds.
I then got to 140. And you can't imagine how many people told me they thought I looked too skinny. Imagine!
So why not get to 150, cut yourself a little slack, and see if you aren't totally jazzed with it? If not, stick to the program a little longer.
I just know of few tall women in our age group who look good that skinny. You're muscular and probably need a little nudge in this direction. After all, you need your strength for boarding, don't you?
Good wishes for you on a really personal and worthwhile journey! I'll live vicariously through you guys.

Thanks, Bets, but I was down to 140 a couple of years ago (just before D got sick) and looked great - not drawn. In fact, at that time, I needed to lose another 5 lbs. (or convert it to muscle) to look my very best. I do realize, though, that the 118 - 128 range that I was always in before kids would be way too thin for me now.
Besides - I have some really cute clothes that I bought when I was 140 and i want to wear them again!!!
I am 5'4 and hoping for about 140, I actually don't look as good with too much less weight on me. When I was in high school, I was down at one point to 128 - but I think that would be too thin now. My mom is 170 or so and 5'6 and looks great, not heavy at all. I have between a C and D cup and curves, so I'll never be a stick figure (thank goodness!)
And Bets - you can have some of my boobs! I wouldn't mind being a cup or so smaller. They can be a pain to carry.
Can I kidnap you for a sec to help me out with a draft email response to DW over in my thread? Sure takes your mind from your own weight loss program for a while!
First bad dieting day yesterday. Had to take D to appointments in am, then just as I was back home and ready to start workout, H calls with news that we will be having business dinner at our house that night. So, spent afternoon prepping for that and missed my workout, plus ended up eating more Mexican food than was good for me (although somewhat less than I would have eaten in the past).
So - today my eating is back on track, and I will be getting on the treadmill here in a few minutes. I also went and had my blood drawn today to check my thyroid levels again.
Here's where you hang out..... can I join in? I've learned so much here already.... like I must check into Bali Satin Tracings, because I haven't found anything that makes my bust look good, gravity, surgery, bike riding, horse back riding along with 2 years of nursing haven't been too kind.
Also, it's nice to be around people who's situation(s) started in the same year mine did. Not that I'm looking for reconciliation at this point, but it's nice to find people who are rebuilding their lives for themselves.
I'll be checking in now that I know where to find you.
Have a wonderful day! God Bless
