I made no appeal to authority. I made note of my experience of encountering trolls, 'cause usenet is full of them. You then went on to play "you're a noob" and I again made no appeal to authority, but pointed to my experience that gave lie to your attempt to play the " you're inferior to my technical prowess".

That's factually incorrect. I didn't assert myself as an authority. I'm not sure you understand what an appeal to authority is. I'm not an authority on the moon but I can state that the moon isn't made of green cheese.
