The warehouse is representative of your life and your M. You are feeling overworked in general, both in terms of your job and your M. You feel as if you are the one doing all the work to maintain your M.
The machines/computers represent your efforts to 'fix' things, or suggest you are spending too much waking time in front of computers.
The darkness is how you feel, you are confused as to what to do and don't see a clear path for yourself. It's the darkness before the dawn, so to speak.
Being assigned and forced to carry out a duty is basically your internal power struggle between wanting what you need for you and wanting to fulfil your duty as a husband. Keeping of secrets and guarding etc means you don't feel you can say how you feel and you don't want to share your thoughts with your W. You have your guard up because you are either resigned to the fact she won't listen or you are afraid of being hurt.
