After Keith, I'd like your input on a dream that I had this morning. Here it goes--mind you, there were two separate dream scenes.
Scene One
I am at a college campus talking with Ms. Frankel [she was a professor of French language and a lesbian] who dominates my attention [Ms. Frankel is a forceful person herself]. Glancing around me, I catch a clear glimpse of my DW following me about 30 feet behind me. I attempt to send a subtle, non-verbal message to DW that I am trying to shake off Ms. Frankel. Outside, I manage to shake off Ms. Frankel and I turned around to find DW. Alas, DW was no where and I turned around scanning the surrounding area looking for DW. Did not see her anywhere.
Scene Two
There is a semi-dark area [indoor] with a 6 x 6 rectangular pool that has chest-high water of approximately 4 feet deep. I am in a one-piece bathing suit. Ms. Frankel is sitting in a chair beside the pool directing some sort of competition where people are paired up. I catch a very fleeting glimpse of my SIL [DW's older sister] inside the pool. I do not recall seeing DW at the scene at all. I am already inside the pool judging the competitors and relay my observations to Ms. Frankel. At one point, I see that one of the pairs had gone underwater. I take a dip underwater and swim toward the pair. To my left is a young white girl playing finger string games with her mother who is on my immediate right. In the mother's hands, I see "The Ladder" formation.
End of Dream
Jo, mind you, this is the third time that I've dreamed of scenes that involves swimming pools and children. Here is a brief background of DW and I. We've been together nearly 10 years and we did plan to have children together [we do not have any]. Below, I am going to detail the two previous dream sequences that I had over the summer of 2005. They were very clear and detailed.
First Dream
There is an in ground retangular shaped swimming pool further back in my backyard. [Jo, for real life information. My property used to have an in ground pool that the previous owner had covered up prior to selling the property to DW and I back in 2002] It is a bright, sunny day. My DW had on her clearly distinctive one-piece bathing suit that is dark navy blue with white polka dots. She had on a gardener's hat and sunglasses. DW was in the shallow part of the pool holding a 10-month old baby in her arms [it is a boy] and a near 2-year old girl is in the background area. I am in my black, one-piece bathing suit with my own sunglasses. I am smiling and DW is smiling. It was a happy, fun family scene. The temperatures were in the comfortable 80s (in F) with a soft breeze.
Second Dream
An indoor scene. There is an indoor pool with plants around and long tan, vinyl lounge chairs around the area. I am in the pool with BIL and his son [my nephew by marriage] playing with the son who is 7 years old in that scene. DW and SIL [DW's older sister] are to my left with SIL's 2-year old daughter [nephew's younger sister] holding her up by her chubby, cute hands. My MIL is to the right of them fully clothed. I am not sure if I saw FIL or not...not clear. [Real life information: I think it is because FIL currently has Alzhemier's disease and has not been able to participate in family activities]. Later on in the dream, I am in the pool with DW alone. We stand close together, facing each other and engaging in conversation. Cannot recall the contents of the convo. DW's family is lounging by the chairs and tables while DW and I are in the pool.
My interpretation
I am not up to speed on dream interpretation. I am a toddler in that respect, Jo! Anyway...water to me represents renewal, joy, and new life. Am I about right? What is with the kids in these dreams??!!
More Real Life Information:
In the past, I've had nightmares of DW and the OP where I am physically fighting with the OP with fists flying all over the place. DW has told me in these dreams that she prefers the OP over me. These nightmares played over and over from January 2004 until recently in the early summer (2005). Lately, I have had no nightmares of the OP [knock on wood!]. I've essentially stopped having these nightmares where the OP was present in them. Another recent development is that DW just sent me an email about two days ago that she moved away from the OP in Missouri and moved back to her hometown in the Northeast part of the USA because of a "better job opportunity." Our marital home is a 6-hour drive from her hometown. DW is interested in having our dog visit her since DW has our cat with her [I have the dog at home with me].
