I thought I'd open a thread about the above as there are loads of people on here that question this and I wrote a book on the subject. Here are a few extracts I have copied for DB'ers that might help:

HEARTBREAK, SEPARATION, DOOM, GLOOM AND DISASTER!
Breaking up from your lover: If you dump your lover, you have things in your life you want to eliminate and get rid of. Maybe you have been harbouring thoughts of really dumping him or her.
If your lover dumps you, you may be insecure about the relationship or suffering from low self-esteem.
Sometimes it can be prophetic of someone actually leaving you.
It is a sign that you could do with talking about your relationship and finding ways to keep it exciting.

Divorce: A sign that you are not happy in your marriage and need to talk. It is a common dream to have if you are actually going through a divorce and is part of the healing process.

Insult: If your ex or someone else insults you in a dream, this means that someone will be flattering you soon, but only to get you into bed!

Refusal: If your lover refuses to go out with you or refuses to have sex with you then this has an opposite meaning: acceptance.

Blame: If you blame someone else for something, this is bad luck. If someone else blames you, then that is good luck, providing you can counter the accusation.

Sexual abstinence: The opposite. You will have great sex soon.

Crying: The opposite: joy and happiness.

Arguing: The opposite. Arguing in dreams means harmony and happiness and the more joy you have in dreams the more you will be sad in real life.

Tears: The opposite, joy. The more miserable you are in the dream, the happier you will be in real life.

Jilted: If you dream your lover jilts you for someone else, then you can be assured he or she will be faithful to you.

Your partner dies: To dream your lover is dead is actually the opposite. He or she is beginning a new phase of life.
Dead bodies and burials signify birth and renewal. You may have a child soon, or get married or get a new house.

Apology: If you apologise in a dream, or someone apologises to you, this is a return to a former relationship.
Symbols for separation

Butterfly: Think ‘flutter bye’ instead of butterfly and you get the general idea. Your lover is flighty and can never make up his mind if he loves you. He lacks commitment.

Lizard: Someone in your close circle is being deceitful and gossiping about you behind your back.

Squirrels: If they were scampering around aimlessly, this means your lover will not stay faithful. You will be disappointed.

Mouse: You feel ‘mousey’ and timid. You can’t say what you think in a relationship. Lack of confidence, shyness.

Fox: Deceit and back-stabbing from people you trust.

Dead/wilting flowers: or to pick petals off a flower signifies a dying love affair.

Burning down house/fire: Heartache, separation, divorce, destruction of the family, loss, death, grieving.

Leopard: ‘A leopard never changes his spots’ - your partner will not change his bad behaviour.

Coffee: ‘Wake up and smell the coffee’ - you will have a row with the person you had coffee with.

Wolf: Hard times and financial embarrassment.

Darkness: Difficult, bleak times, but which are nearly over. Remember it’s always darkest before the dawn.

Ship wreck/drowning: Separation or other bad news. It heralds a traumatic shock followed by a complete change of life.

Stormy seas: Hard, difficult times.

Blood/bleeding: Loss. Loss of vitality, pain. Unless it was menstrual blood, then it signifies femininity and the start of your period.

Pencil: Symbol for penis, male sexuality and power. If you are writing with the pencil, it can mean your love affair will not be permanent and one of you will leave (because pencil markings can be erased and are not permanent).
Alternatively, it could signify one night stands or casual flirtations.

Empty/broken cup: Obvious symbolism here, ‘your cup has run dry’.

Missing your target: If you are doing archery in your dream and you miss your target, this is bad luck for love affairs. If you are trying to get pregnant this month, it won’t happen.

Rags: If you were dressed in tatty or dirty clothes, this is bad luck.

Dear John Letter: Letters tend to be messages from spirit so read carefully the message in the letter. It is a warning.

Fork: Separation, divorce or major decision to make regarding a relationship.

Chickens: ‘Don’t count your chickens before they’ve hatched.’

Symbols for love, joy, sex and fertility
Rice: Symbolic of sperm. Means happy love affairs and fertility to anyone who sees or eats rice in a dream.

Sea man/fisherman: Think semen instead of sea man and you get the idea.

Bow and arrow: Symbol for falling in love, think cupid’s arrow. Happy love affairs unless the arrow missed it’s target.

Calm seas: Happy, tranquil times ahead of you.

Pen/pencil: Symbol for penis. Both pen and pencil represent sex. Pen means permanent relationship/marriage, pencil means one night stand or temporary flirtation.

Bowl: Can represent the vagina and womb. Female sexuality and power.
Even happier omen if the bowl was full.

Tiger: Female sexuality, power and strength.

Dog: Man’s best friend. Lasting friendship or relationship or return to former relationship.

Cat: Female sexuality. Intuition, third eye, trusting your instincts.

Kittens: The same as above. Great joy.

Puppies: Same as for dog.

Birds: Good omen of love and joy, especially if they had a nest full of eggs. (Bad luck if they were dead birds).

Tree: Think the ‘tree of life’ - very good omen of love and joy, unless you chopped the tree down.

Dove: The symbol of peace. If you’ve been fighting or gone through a hard time, it is over. Great joy.

Lion: Strength. Male sexuality and power. If the lion was friendly, you will make a new friend.

Doors: Open doors, new opportunities and relationships, closed doors, restrictions, setbacks.

Stairways: Going up, good luck, going down, bad luck. The same applies to a lift.

Spoons: Domestic happiness and bliss.

Washing-up: If the dishes were pretty, this is an omen of happy family times. If they were plain, you are bored at the moment with your life.

Branch: Consider ‘holding out an olive branch’. Peace, delightful friends, wealth. If it was a dried branch, you will have wonderful news from someone who is absent.

Doctor: Your spiritual, inner healer. He represents improvement in all your circumstances and possibly a new romance or strengthening of an existing partnership. Relates to sex, consider that doctor’s are supposed to have good bedside manners.

Vaccination/injection: Sex. Any syringe in a dream is a symbol for a penis, although if the syringe contains vaccine it is a warning against an insincere lover or friend.
Syringes containing other medicines mean renewed sexual vigour. The needle is the penis, the contents injected is the sperm.

I know loads more. I've been interpreting since age 13 so if anyone wants me to, I'll do it for free for any DB'er to help with your R problems!
