Lou,

How about a 1968 Shelby Cobra GT500KR (hence my handle)? Unfortunately is not restored yet. I bought it with the drive train stripped out when I was in high school in 1977. I’m still waiting to start up a restoration project but I feel the time is getting close.

Favorite car I owned (don't remember the year, but OLD) was a Karmen Ghia. Loved it, even though my feet got wet when it rained and it had no heat!!!!

That's what I'd love to restore if I could.

You guys are killing me with all these dinky sports cars. I couldn't fit in most of them if I tried. Give me a big monster sedan or SUV, like a 7-series BMW or Lincoln Town Car and I'll run over your dinky sports car. And give me a pumping sound system so I can blare Gorillaz or R.Strauss in equal measure.

Of course, with gas prices the way they are and 3 kids, I really like my minivan.

Convertibles are nice, except my head sticks out over the windshield. I squeezed into a Z3 convertible once, and my head would have protected the roll bar in the event the car flipped.

Okay... now I'm going to come out of the closet... my best car was a 1978 AMC Pacer. Yup. Drove it for 11 years, then bought an identical one (same year, same color, lower mileage), used, for $600 and drove that one for another couple of years, using the first one for parts. Couldn't ever find parts at a junkyard because there were virtually none of them IN junkyards.

That car was so comfortable because it was roomy on the inside and small on the outside. I worked in the downtown area at the time and had to do a lot of parallel parking at meters. If I could find a space one inch longer than that car, I could park it. When they hauled the original one away for the last time, I cried and cried. The second (used) one I gave to the cleaning lady in 1990. As far as I know, she's still driving it.

Nice VW. My neighbor has one. Also ownes an import repair shop.

Re chrome, talking about looking over the top of a windshield look at this car> 1952 MG TD roadster I used to do wheel alignments for the local dealer and I am/was 6'4". I had to bend down to look through the windshield. Getting in and out was a little tricky.

Lil, you are my kind of person. Even though, at the time I did not like that model (worked on trade in's at the dealership) of car because Chevys were easier to repair and were more durable, the car design made sence and driving it for as long as you did, earns points in my book. Lots of them Lil. 3 points plus for Lil for not needing a car to boost her ego.

The thing I disliked the most about being around car salesmen and customers, was when the salesman said to the customer, "You look good sitting in that car/truck." Well to me the customer looked good with or without the vehicle. I know it was just "sales talk" but after you hear it so many times, it takes on another meaning.

I had friends with sporty looking cars and they were worried someone might take something from car or chip the paint. I usually liked plain looking "sleepers" so I did not draw attention. I kept tools in my car and did not want them stolden. Mainly, I liked durability so I drove mostly low priced Chevrolets.

My next car is going to be a 1985 Plymouth Voyager, 4 cilinder, 5-speed transmission, Air conditioned, power steering, amd a medium priced radio. (can I say cup holders? or is that too dorky?) I am looking at 27 mles per gallon????

Another van I would like to have is > Citroen H Van< because it was a pioneer vehicle, built when people had little money and lots of work to do after WWII.

She also said I need to find a woman 20 years younger

BB had more age related complaints. Mostly tired, so I asked if i should help her find a room at a retirement home, all with a smile on my face (detached) so she knew I was giving her a hard time and joking. Then I went to the store for bike tires.

Love it! My H family seems to fall apart young whenever he use to complain about ailments (when he was in his late twentys) I always said I was gonna have to rent him a room at the old age home. Or trade him in on a younger model(he is 6 years younger then me). I always loved picking like that. Now he gets to pissy.

BB said several times I should get a younger model so I don't know if I should say too much in this area.

I can talk about a retirement apartment in a building that has on-site group dining and activities.

This is part of OG Lou's problem, he is having a hard time getting out of his own way. Men are susceptible to this as they like predictability. We know what we like and that is what we want. The same way every time. Very resistant to change or variety.

So, I guess you are saying that wanting to do the right things, being nice, avoiding conflict, rescuing BB when she feels like life short changed her is not helping our situation very much. I agree.

That is the balance I try to practice.

Have you started 'walking the dogs' with her each day to give you guys some 'chit chat time', and incorporating some physical activity at the same time?

I suggested it but got turned down. BB did her work out and treadmill time for the day so said she had enough physical activity and wanted to rest the rest of the day. I will bring it up several more times and at different times of the day, trying to substitute her work-out time for us time.

Probably getting cold up there by now, though.

The day you wrote this (big secret Montanan's don't want everyone to know ) it was 72f by 3PM. The weather is influenced alot by the jet stream and we get some temp increases by something called "down slopping compression", the air gets warmer/heats up as the stream of air goes from a high elevation to a lower elevation, it compresses. See Downsloping Wind- Air that sinks with the terrain as it moves toward lower elevations. Downsloping air warms adiabatically and decreases in relative humidity. Reminds me of how air conditioners work. Air or a fluid Expand it cools off, when it compresses itwarms up.

From a reply to Cobra. Any opinions?
Cobra, I used to let small insults go by without saying anything but they got worse until I said how they sounded to me and what the insults ment to me. ((past history to set the stage for cobra))

I know not responding to some things is what to do sometimes and working through insults or "You always" statements is what to do other times. You have to know which battle to fight.

BB and I were talking and she said I needed to move some things but my van was full of cardboard. I said Yes, doesn't it accumulate fast.(in a tone that tried to convey something like "it's amazing how fast the stuff accumulates) That pile in my van (van not driven) is from things we bought in the last 30 days. BB said I was collecting it for the last year and it might be another year before I got rid of it.
(side note-BB seems to try to change what actually happens, I have heard other people refer to this as "trying to re-write the marrital history.)

I said, "Didn't I just say the cardboard was from what we bought in the last month and mostly from the bathroom re-model." I left it at that.

Good? Bad? Did I bite too hard? Did I detach quick enough?

Lou
