Quote: Jo is 4 weeks from date of conception and 6 weeks from last menstrual period.
Yes, that was what I was trying to straighten out in my head. Not for reasons of semanctics, but because people's teminology varies, and knowing if someone is actually 2 vs 4 weeks post conception matters in interpreting lab and US results.
Quote: Jo - Pen is talking about gestational age -a term doctors use, counting from the first day of your last period - which, of course, for most people, is two weeks MORE than the actual amount of time you have been pregnant. So yes, you would be 6 weeks gestational age if it's 4 weeks after ovulation and conception. And, since that was the absolute last time you had sex with him (right?) you cannot be less than 6 weeks gestational age (4 weeks actually pregnant).
And Pen is absolutely right, the odds of this being a viable pregnancy with no yolk sac and low HCG at 6 wks EGA is very slim. I simply meant to tell you that, if you have any discomfort with the decision to take the pills, and they did not see obvious signs of a tubal pregnancy, you can probably afford to wait a few days and retest your HCG before you intervene.
Ellie
Thanks Ellie - you described what I wanted to say, only much clearer.
No, my LMP was 25 August. I ML with Andy on 5 September so that was 10 days after (MP lasted 3 days which is normal for me; they are usually 3 or 4 days).
That was the only time we had penetrative sex. There was one time on the 17th September when we got a bit hot and heavy but it wasn't ML. I suppose technically if I had undressed, he might have been able to impregnate me, but I was fully clothed, it was only him that wasn't, so I don't see how conception is possible from that.
Gosh, this is too graphic. Sorry people, I actually feel embarrassed about this
If by some chance, sperm can get through denim, that would make me 24 days from conception - but you can still get a decent blood result at that stage, can't you?
So it's academic really, I still reckon it isn't going to work. Blood results are supposed to be conclusive.
I had quite a few pregnancy symptoms so I was sure this would work. I got a PMT headache and then no period, no period altogether, cramps and then no blood (that has happened with all my pregnancies, and if I press on my tummy it's a bit sore (again, I had that with all my pregnancies).
If I drink too much coffee I feel sick and get cramps, I have come over dizzy more than once. I have never been this late in my life before unless I was pregnant, so I can't understand why the reading is so inconclusive.

No worries about getting graphic - we can handle it. So you're at least 6 weeks + 5 days gestational age, and 5 weeks + 1 day post conception (I think we can discount the 'denim episode', as it was right around the time of your next menstrual period, which you didn't get => probably already pregnant.)
And what Ellie and I are saying is that you most likely are pregnant, just that it's probably not viable (and even if it doesn't look like it now, it could still potentially be ectopic).
Hang in there. I know this uncertainty sucks bigtime.
