Many of the men held at jail had been arrested for offenses like criminal trespass, public drunkenness or disorderly conduct. Many had not even been brought before a judge and charged, much less been convicted.




Jo, some of the offenders were just released to the streets. Some of the things reported in the news papers did not happen. Some of the stories were peoples storiies that got reported as facts. I am not saying all were fiction, but some stories enhanced.

New Orleans is a strange town. Some of the police are not honest.
