I fell down on the job today. H went to the employee clinic for what he thought was a pulled muscle, but turned out to be chest pain. He tried to get ahold of me to take him to the ER, but I was outside with the boys. I left my cell phone in the house. I called the ER nurse and she advised me to wait at home until I hear from them. I got in touch with him just as he got to the ER and he let me have it for not being able to get ahold of me. I got defensive and he hung up on me.

...waiting and praying....

I hope everything turns out okay. Don't focus on you "falling down on the job." Everyone makes mistakes, and that was a little one. Focus on him.

Hope all is well, prayers for you and hubby.

And please don't beat yourself up - it's just not reasonable to expect that cell phones are going to be strapped to your person 24 hours a day.

I'm sure he blew at you because he was scared. I hope you don't take his anger to heart too deeply.

Some of his anger is about being scared. I wouldn't wait at home. I'd go to the ER. You want to be there to hear what the docs say. I've had a LOT of experience with this.

Cinema,
My prayers are with you and your H. Hope it turns out to be something not to serious. I went to the Hosp. a while back for chest pains, turned out it was gastro-intestinal and my ticker is fine. Still, MrsG was a wreck. I know what you are going through...it is awful.

BTW, you did nothing wrong. So what if you were outside without the phone? You got the message and responded before he even reached the ER.

Oh yeah, don't sit at home. Go to the ER to be with him and to hear what they have to say.

Got locked out of the site. Thanks everyone for the prayers.

Just got a call from H saying that they took an xray and ekg, but have left him laying there for an hour and a half. I take that to be good news. If the radiologist did a wet read and cardiologist went through the ekg and they thought that the situation warrented it they would have admitted him by now. He is at the ER the main hospital where they would admit him is 45 min. to an hour away. I can get his info from the doc, as I used to work for our primary physician (&#$@ing HMOs).

When you go to the hospital with chest pains they have to do a blood test to see if you are producing cardiac enzymes that indicate whether or not you have had a heart attack. That's why they "leave you lying there." Usually it's more than an hour and a half... it's closer to four or five hours all together. An x-ray is also part of the drill. My late H had this experience several times, my bf had it once, and I've even gone through it twice.

If you are close to the doc, see if you can get him to tell your H he must stop drinking. I had no luck with this when my bf was in the hospital for quad bypass surgery. No one wanted to go out on a limb and tell him that drinking 12 beers every night was a bad thing. You might have better luck if you know the doc. (Bf did stop drinking when I put my foot down.)

Keep us posted.

(((((((((((((( Cine )))))))))))))))))))))))

Hang in there. Don't beat yourself up about the cell phone thing. You can't have it with you all the time. I sometimes wonder what people did before cell phones. If the regular phone had rang you might not have heard it due to being outside. I agree with mrs. nop he is scared and unsure of whats happening. Hope everything is ok.

Annette
