I have pretty much always had a dog too. I am so glad my H cannot take my dog -- as you know, you can't leave a dog home alone for 24 hours at a time. Now if he would ever move in w/OW and try to take the dog -- there's gonna be quite the fight.
I think I'm about an hour from Emmittsburg, maybe a little more than an hour.
