I've reached that conclusion at times also, Jak. The WA doesn't like to deal w/their own guilt in the sitch, therefore tries to be nice, comforting to the LBS. It tends to make us more confused and give us false hopes.
I'm not saying there is no hope, I see quite a bit in your sitch. But she isn't going to come back out of guilt, or want you to be dependant on her for your emotions. The stronger you are the better it will be in any type of R w/her.
Let her get curious about what you're doing. She contacted as soon as she didn't hear back from you. Right now it may be out of guilt, let it go and see what she does next.
