Hi Wez

Wow - that's a profound question. Would I have him back? I don't know.

Not the way he is now, I wouldn't. If he improved himself then yes I would, as I obviously still have feelings for him.

I intended to be colder towards him but then he brought BIL and kids round and I hadn't seen BIL in nearly 2 years so the sitch was just so different to what I am used to, it threw me.

I haven't excused what X did with the car etc but my anger is starting to lessen.

People who know me well say I never bear grudges for long and I am loyal to my friends to the point of fault. What he did was wrong and I was angry, but I can't stay angry, it isn't my personality.

I am just of the opinion that I am 'floating' so to speak, and seeing what happens.

I would close the door totally if I fell in love again but somehow I can't see that happening, as it means the bloke has to fall for me too - that is about as likely as me visiting the moon. Only weirdos make moves on me.

Jo.

Gabriel

When am I going to invite you over? Wow, that would wind X up! Well, anytime you can afford a plane ticket, you can come over and maybe pretend to be my OM just to get on his nerves

My friend is already planning a dinner with me, herself, her American bf and she is insisting that I find an American to join us. She has expansionist ideas

I actually thought of this great fiction story I could write with the main character, 'Gabriel' (like the Angel) who saves the world from the destructive powers of man. I was lying awake till 3am thinking up the plotline, LOL.

I'll mail you my idea as if I write it down on here, someone might hi-jack the story!

Re X and OW2 - well, I'm thinking that she's not moved in because EX-OW is still there and he doesn't have the room. I also think that because he doesn't see her all the time and I don't think he's told his family, she is obviously not important to him.

I think it's a sex thing, i.e, I'm not giving him sex so he's getting it elsewhere. I don't believe he loves her, I mean, he wouldn't say 'those 2 roses are joined together, that's symbolic' if he wasn't still in love with me, and he was acting jealous in front of BIL, frowning, shuffling around, looking awkward etc.

I am just saying that I am single and will see how long it takes him to crash this time.

Jo, Thanks.

Its funny how your definition of bloke was exactly what I pictured even though I really had no idea of the words meaning.

At least I know now that I am not a bloke, I am 43, but don't look a day over 34.

In US, it's the same as "meathead".

RE: Ioavva Common job types for a 'bloke' are builder, painter, gardener, DIY man, machanic. Ocassionally if he is the slightly more educated type of bloke, he will be an office manager

I don't watch football/socker, don't drink that much (1 beer a month) and I don't usually swear. I do fit into the common job types above. I have a 4 year college degree and graduated in the top 5% of my class. Does that make me a "bolke"?

I know builders and lots of mechanics and don't consider any to be "meatheads". I think Qoe100's "meathead" does not accurately describe what I have encountered in good hard working men and fathers.

Lou,
What Jo described is a "meathead" IMO. Jo described a man that is only interested in sex, food, sports and very little else. I think you can be hardworking and still be considered that. Sorry, if it offends you.

Google meathead

The American Heritage ® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition

meat·head (mēt'hĕd')
n. Slang.
A stupid or dull person.

Qoe100, I dont think building contractors, carpenters, computer tecks, mechanics are stupid. Some may be self centered as you suggest, but I think you are skewing things a little.

Yes Jo's description did portray self centered traits but it did not imply the 'blokes' were stupid or dull.

Maybe I see the good in too many people and you see how they don't measure up. And I am not offended by your description of an 'American bloke'. But I don't agree with it.

Maybe I hang out with a different group of people. My bloke friends are interested in sex, food, sports, camping, playing ball with the kids, scouts, family dinners, how the house looks, work, investments, vacations, cars, and a host of other things.

Lou
