GEL...

LOL I've even suggested getting a tatoo of a Harley motorcycle on my chest and one of a briefcase on my butt so he can take his pick depending on his moods.

It's funny you mention the Ginkgobiloba. I happen to work for a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and we just put him on some about a month ago. Problem is he keeps forgetting to take it! Once he gets back from the trade show tomorrow I already told him I'd dole it out for him on a daily basis when I take my own allotment of supplements so he won't have to worry about it.

Oh...were we infringing on someone else's thread before? I have much to learn here.

Running....how old is your hubby? How long has he had a bit of a memory problem? Just out of curiosity has he talked to his MD about it?

As far as hijacking the other thread....it's just good for you to have your own for a couple of reasons....#1 it's easier for us to keep up with you and your situation....and #2 it's too easy to accidentally side-track the initial meaning of the thread we were on, it happens all too often, this is just a good way to avoid that

Hi GEL...

H will turn 56 in just a couple of days. His memory started getting sluggish about 6 yrs ago after a much longer than anticipated gallbladder surgery was performed. Within 6 months of the surgery he started showing signs of impaired memory and over time it's gotten alot worse. The surgery was only supposed to take about 2 to 2-1/2 hours but ran for almost 5-1/2 hours. A heart specialist I was working for at the time said that it's very common for persons after having undergone such extended surgeries to experience memory difficulties that can worsen over time. It's likely his brain received insufficient oxygen at points or some point throughout the surgery...just one of the nasty little side effects not always mentioned. I've noticed, as well as H himself that his memory has become increasingly worse since. I remember his elderly mother not being too swift in the memory department either, so it could be hereditary to some degree as well. But the surgery really brought it on.

Sometimes I joke to him that he's going to forget he's married and has a wife and will forget to come home.

Just a question please, do I now have 2 different threads or is it just my imagination? I thought you already started one with the first posting and now there's this one? Just checking.

Yes, you do have two threads...I forgot the other one was started too So use whichever you like.

Has your H ever tried Aricept? Or talked to his MD about things that can help improve his memory? Arcipet is a medication that is often used on Alzheimer's and dimentia patients. Now of course I'm not saying your H has either of those...but something like this might drastically improve his memory.....it's something to look into.

Somebody pinch me...I must be dreaming!!! I wasn't expecting H home till late Friday afternoon. He rolled in here at 10:30 a.m. and it was at least a 4 hour drive home. The moment he came thru the door he grabbed me and gave me a passionate kiss...who was that man? Can't wait to see how the rest of the weekend goes.

Well I must be sleep-walking cuz the dream isn't over yet. We're both all smiles this weekend and he still has a day left before he goes back to work on Tuesday. Everything has been calm, relaxing and easy going. There's been no tense moments and he appears to be quite content. He hasn't mentioned work once except to say it would be nice to win the lottery so he wouldn't have to go back at all. Friday night he was exhausted from his trip and Saturday evening we had a unexpected late invitation to a barbeque that kept us out too late. We ML tonite (which he initiated!!!) and when I teasingly reminded him that his birthday wasn't officially till tomorrow, so tonite was just a preliminary sampling of things yet to come...he laughed and said, well then we better make sure we have our cake and ice cream nice and early.

GEL...I talked to him on Saturday about having been snubbed by him when he walked past the bedroom door while I stood there half naked...he looked at me in amazement and said "did I do that?...well that's not good...I'll have to change that." So today while I was getting dressed to go out he came by and fondled me a bit and then put his arms around me from behind. Goooood boy. Let's see how long he can keep it up for...no pun intended.
