Jo Thanks for the word usages and situations. I know how different people use the same word to mean different things sometimes and when I write something on the internet, I hope I am writing it the way they will understand it as I mean it in my mind. I did not want to have people miss understand something.

The difference between "cell phone" and "mobile phone" is not that great. With some other words or phrases the differences are greater.

I see you used the word "truck" which I thought you would have used the word "lorry." To me, that means you are writing with your readers in mind, not just how you would normally talk.

{One man who said 'hello, love' was strimming the grass} I think this is a string trimmer in the U.S. or referred to as a "weed eater." Here is what I found on Google about stimming.
Quote:

Anyway, I was still learning stuff as most of the lawn had to be done with a 2 stroke petrol driven strimmer, something I'd never used before. With the goggles on and a small motorbike buzzing behind my shoulder my world shrank into a tunnel vision as I guided the strimming end over the lawn. The hours passed by, with occasional breaks for water and to let my hands recover from the vibrations, and apart from the sore back, it was a very satisfactory job, so much so I'm rather annoyed there's nothing else to strim.

I read in Russia, giving an odd (5,7,9,11) number of flowers is only for funerals and something else bad. If your a dinner guest you need to have an even number (6,8,10,12) of flowers to give to the dinner host. I found this and other cultural do's and don't on a web site "Advice for Traveling Executives/Business people."

I watch the Canadian news and hear comments U.S people don't know much about Canada but Canadians know a lot about the U.S. Many Canadians consider U.S. citizens self centered because of this. About once a week I listen to the Canadian news, the Native American / Indian /First American news, sometimes the German news, and occassionally the news? from China. I have watched the CNN International news from the UK, presented by Richard Quest. ( and the last vacation / holiday I went on was in 1986, strange, isn't it)

Anyway, I do like to learn a little about cultural traits other people have and word usage/history. It's interesting to think about what is good manners in one society, is considered rude in another society. Add that to individuals ability to write and express themself, or lack there of, and it is amazing how well we do communicate most of the time.

Other times I see why relationships are strained, especially when religious beliefs enter the picture.

Hope you and Andy can progress through baby steps so no one expects miracles to happen. Glad to see you have more PMA Jo.

Hey now,

He's doing a nice amount of AOS for you! And you two are talking again! Very good positives, Jo. Sounds like the sitch has turned again. Is it just me, or is he offering help more, with you not needing to ask for it as much?

I appreciate S5's hugs as well. Sometimes I'll just reach ove and his hand or kiss the top of his head, all just fine with him UNTIL there is another little boy or girl nearby, and then I'm kept at arms length.

Your school/work stuff sounds like great PMA help. Nicely done.

In terms of pain, you are one tough cookie!

Hi Lou

Lorry and truck are both used in the UK. Lorry is generally bigger than a truck, though.

A truck is usually bigger than a mini van but smaller than freight vehicles. I suppose it was the size of a mini van with a skip on the back of it.

I used to date someone (for 5 months, ugh!) who was a long distance freight driver and if people asked me what he did for a living I would say he was a 'truckie'

I left him though, because he treated me MUCH worse than H and I was still in love with H so it was a re-bound thing.

Hi Gabriel

Yes he is doing a bit more for me now, although we don't see as much of each other, he seems to have upped his 'services'

My greekgoddess addy is down again! So I will just have to do without my email and wait till next week.
I might try my work email and see if that works.

I love going to college as it is a real office kind of environment - it's set out like an office rather than a classroom and since I always work at home, it makes a real change for me.
My friend took dd to toddler group for me so she didn't miss me.

Re the pain, it is a bit more manageable this evening. I think the homeopathy might have started helping a bit as normally when I get an attack this bad I am dragging round in pain for a week, but it's only like a mild discomfort at the moment so I am definitely going to persevere with it.

I bought it from this homeopathic company that I sell to so when I got my receipt, they remembered who I was and put my company name on it
I figured they are always giving me custom so I would give them some in return.

Tonight I've been listening to the Greek entries for the Eurovision Song Contest to keep my PMA up. The one for 2001 is quite good, it's sung in half English, half Greek.
You probably think I'm really sad now

Hey there, Jo!

How's my favorite Greek goddess doing?

That choice of yours to take college courses sounds just right - good timing for its start as well.

I am so glad to see you and Andy communicating better. I hope you have a great weekend! I'll have S5 with me so, I'll be off the BB for a few days. Take care!

Gabriel

Thanks Gabriel

In response to Lou, I have just spent ages making a public 'blog' on the net, with pictures of me, my H and all my kids.

If anyone wants to see, you can get it on:

Jo. Nice job. Lots of work and nicely done too, you internet star!

Fly a "tiger Moth" , Vincent Van Gogh, Anne Frank's house, Amsterdam, Wow. Those are some things I can relate to too.

How do you find the time to do all of those other things Jo?

Hi Lou

I haven't flown the Tiger Moth yet, but I really want to. If I had been born an able-bodied man, I would have wanted to be a pilot. I can't wait to get up there.
But I can't afford the lessons, either, so I figured maybe on my 30th birthday

You like Van Gogh too? The man's a genius. I've got a massive reproduction of his 1888 'Sunflowers' in my hall and a slightly smaller one of 'Vase Avec Roses'.
There's another one he did too, that looks like the inside of a Greek house, but I can't think what it's called. I would like to find that and buy it.

Andy is more of a Monet man

Anne Franks house brought tears to my eyes. There was still 1940's magazine clippings stuck to her bedroom wall. I just welled up, I felt so humbled.
I went there in 2001 with Andy and the kids.

Since the split up, my work declined quite a lot so it's only part time now, and so are the books sales. I struggle financially and am topped up by benefits. I am on a scheme at the moment, trying to re-build the business.

The books I write when dd is watching children's TV, in bed or when she's at her dads. The college is when Andy has her or if my friend babysits as it's an open centre so you go when you want.

The egg donation doesn't take up too much time, it's an afternoon gone here and there - although it will take up a week of my time once they get near to operation date.

Toddler groups I go to with dd are on 3 times a week, and I fit the grocery shopping in then too

I have more time on my hands without the others. I would actually rather have less hobbies and more time with my family.

Jo.

Jo,

Awesome job on your site. It is very impressive. My S12 can make and design websites, he is yrs ahead of me on the computer.

I love Van Gogh! In fact I have done some oil paintings with a pallet knife using his style of painting. I do water color and oils with a brush also, but using the pallet knife and imagining how Van Gogh would have painted the scene is very relaxing.
