Hi folks,

It’s been awhile. I have been very busy with work, traveling, and last but not least, my R. I’ve been so quiet because I have been working through some major developments in my R – so major, in fact, that I haven’t really been speaking to much of anybody lately (besides S., and the inimitable and indispensable H2H).

Well, I’ve popped my head out of the dairy barn to inform you all of the news.

I’m going to have a baby!

Unexpected and not necessarily the best timing, but we (yes, WE) are very excited! I’m at the end of my 13th week now – I found out 24 March, the day I left for Texas. S. and I have been to two prenatal appointments, and had my first sonogram two weeks ago, to confirm the baby’s gestational age at 12 weeks. We just flew down to Ga. this past w-e to inform my parents. This w-e we go to Vermont to tell his mother. Everyone is thrilled!

We are getting married as soon as we can (there’s a little matter of my gay H to deal with first, of course), and moving into an apartment in S’s house until we can buy one of our own (hopefully very soon). The baby is due to arrive near the end of October.

Our R has transformed – all of the petty and insignificant troubles have melted away (don’t worry, folks, I’m not blind to the challenges of having a baby), and we have been so close (aside from the initial stages of panic we both went through when we found out) – talking to each other in completely new ways… with respect, love, and an eye on the more important issues facing us. Suddenly, it’s not so difficult to plan a schedule with him, not so awful to talk finances, and miracle of miracles, I’ve been feeling so connected with him, I haven’t even needed all that attention in the morning (aided by the fact that I’m now waking up at 5:30 in the morning every day)!

In other news, S. and I ordered seeds for the garden in Vermont, and are planning to be spending more time there (especially in the heat of summer). The week after we go to Vermont to tell his mom, I’m going on my yoga retreat on Sanibel Island for a full week of 5 hours of yoga a day, a condo on the beach, and free time to bike around the island and gawk at the birds on the nature preserve. I can hardly wait.

My next appointment is another sonogram, when we hope to be able to see the baby’s gender. We both want to know – there have been enough surprises for one year!

Well, that’s enough for one post. Hope y’all are well!

Jennifer

Wow, Jennifer! I guess "kicking and screaming" will take on a variety of meanings from now on!

Congrats to you and SO. Here's to a happy and healthy baby!

OMG, J, congratulations!!!!!!!

Somewhere there's a Lou Reed song where he quotes his wife saying to him (about having kids) -
"Lou, Lou, Lou - it's the beginning of a great adventure!"

And it is!

Phew! I had no idea that the duct tape SD lent me a year ago would come in handy in this situation!

At least you all know I can keep a 'secret' . . . .

I look forward to watching the quite slim & trim Jennifer get bigger!

Wow. Congratulations! I especially like how this seems to have preempted all those skewed cherries.

And H2H, you were a model of restraint!

Jennifer,

Congrats! Ahh...those feet of pitter and patter. Looks like things with SO are looking up lately. WTG!
