Firstly, I must say with a great deal of sadness that my pelvic pain is back. The laparoscopy and appendectomy did not fix it, although I am glad the appendix didn't burst on its own. I got my stitches out yesterday and told the doctor about the familiar pain that is back. He was VERY short (he thought the appendix was causing this the whole time, despite my telling him in the hosp that the pain was nowhere near the appendix and never has been) and said, Well I will be DONE with you if this did not take care of it. I will have to refer you to a GI specialist. I gave you so many antibiotics that there is no way that any kind of infection could still be happening.
I replied, I agree. Antibiotics have not helped me for some time so I think whatever infection may have been present has been gone for some time. The pain, however, has stuck around. So I am guessing that they are not related..?
He then made some snide remark about having a baby at home being "unsanitary" (which it isn't, in fact it was a LOT less risky--as far as germs are concerned--than a hospital birth. At no time did ANYTHING go up my body..not a human hand, or instrument of any kind. In addition my body did not touch anything from my home until 24 hours after the delivery. I rested on disposable and brand new paper sheets. ETC ETC)
He was really very snotty but that is not the point of my post at all, just venting.
I am writing to you because I was wondering if pelvic pain was the tipoff that you needed to get checked for a hernia? My mother had hernia surgery a couple of years ago but she is in Utah and I can't ask her. Wouldn't the laparoscopy have spotted a hernia, if there was one?
Sorry to bother you with my health woes. I am to the WTF is the matter with me stage.
Any advice re: hernias you could give me, I'd appreciate. I found a hilarious British website about hernias but other than the quite general "groin pain" they don't tell you what it FEELS like.
Hope your week is going well. Oh and aren't you enjoying this lovely winter..er, spring, weather??
My gosh, HP, would you get better already!!! So sorry to hear doc slice-and-dice didn't fix you up, and even sorrier to hear about his piss-poor attitude. Unsanitary indeed, I'll show him unsanitary....
Gotta wonder if something didn't get ruptured or pushed out of place during delivery. The timing would seem to indicate perhaps a relationship. I'm sure you've already done a google search on pelvic pain (not that you need to find pelvic pain or anything). Any usable leads off there?
Dang dang dang dang dang! I want you to be better and pain-free.
I didn't have any obvious onset symptoms when the doc discovered my hernias. He was doing a pre-vasectomy check-up and asked me to bear down while he put his hand about mid-way between penis, bellybutton, and hipbone (sorry, I know you don't have a penis, but you probably get the picture). He felt a bulging on both sides. I honestly didn't have any pain . . . until after he found it. I then had some soreness from his examination, and then, about every month or so after that, had some soreness in that area. It was never bad enough to stop me from having sex (Ms. Hairdog was the sole reason I wasn't having sex, and that was painful enough). I just decided to get it repaired because I read some stories about herniated intestines, etc., that made me realize I needed to get it fixed.
I'd run, not walk, to a g.i. specialist if I were you. I think your doc is being turdy and you should find another. I'm glad your appendix got taken care of, but it's time to call in the big guns. I was wondering if it might be endometriosis. My sis-in-law had that, and it was pretty painful.
I'm really feeling for you, HP. I just about cried when I read your message. Enough with this bull shiat, already.
Oh, and speaking of the weather, I came home last night and Ms. Hdog and DD3 were watching "Finding Nemo" in front of a roaring fire in the fireplace. In April.
According to the snotbag gynecologist, everything is in its correct place. The laparoscopy seems to back that up. So I am now thinking (I got my medical degree from the same "university" that HDSocal did, lol) that it is not related to the girly parts in any way. I'm now turning my attention to the other various organs that could be the culprit.
fun fun.
Oh and hairy, please forgive me for this self serving hijack.
Hairdog, Your message certainly cheered me up. You have a way with words, I gotta tell ya.
I have no pain in the area you described. It is down VERY low..if I had to guess I would best pinpoint the bladder area. The lap showed a little bit of endometriosis but not enough to worry about. He showed me the 'lesions' he took care of (color photos of my insides, WHEN will the injustice end?!) and they meant nothing to me. (my internet degree is showing its limitations)
I think your advice to run to a GI is sound. I asked him yesterday at what point I should call him re: the pain. He said (irritably) Well you just had major surgery; I would give it a couple weeks or so for that to heal and then see how you are feeling. I replied, Well the pain is not coming from ANY of the incision sites which is why I asked.
He said, Call me in two weeks--no need to make an appointment--and I can give you the names of some GI specialists.
I am inclined to call today, since I may not be able to get in right away, kwim.
Ahhh, Nemo in front of a fire. I have to say that sounds pretty darn good. I had a crazy urge to sleep nekkid with MrHP last night and cuddle up to his warm and fuzzy body, but I changed my mind after a brief spell of nekkid tooth brushing. On with the sweatshirt and sweatpants, which is more clothing than I wear during the worst snowstorm. Brrrrr Maybe tonight I can pull off the nekkid slumber.
Thanks again for the advice. If I ever figure out what is the matter with me, I will raise my glass to you and MrsNOP and GGB and anyone else who has ever offered up a plausible possibility for me to ponder.
HP, Don't let a snot doc slow you down. Call today. 3 out of the 5 of my SILs got hernias during pregnancy, and the sites of their pain differed quite a bit.
I agree HP....got to a GI doc as soon as you can. That doc wanted to believe he saved the day with his appendix find. Trust what you are feeling and don't stop til you get the right answers. Did a little search for you and came up with "pelvic floor dysfunction" and "interstitial cystitis." The hernia idea is a good one considering your mom's history.
I'll be back here on Mon....will keep my fingers crossed that you'll be feeling better.
And I will eventually finish the freakin' DVD for you ( be aware of its HDH/LDW slant...you may want to watch it yourself first).
Maybe your G-Spot got shifted when you gave birth and now it's locked up in some sort of nerve spasm and you need to have multiple orgasms in order to loosen it up. Have you ever gotten the female equivalent of "blue balls"? Maybe it's a chronic variation on that. Though in my experience, that would be unlikely because on the rare occasion when I've experienced this, the pain has been concentrated in the area of female anatomy which becomes the scrotum in the male, radiating in two arcs down the labia from the clitoris. So, I'm really only suggesting this as a cause because the cure might be fun.

We took a variety of tests and I then googled our "types" to get profiles from a variety of sites. By the time I was done, my W and I had about 15 pages each to describe ourselves and how we each work. It was a fun exercise.
