Okay, H is snubbing his nose at the what 4 things did you smile about yesterday idea. I do NOT know who to help him unstress..... and he is driving me nuts. He has been asking, where's the mail, where's the mail, I need to pay the bills. Okay, Monday was a holiday and it's not even the end of the month yet so maybe the bills are even here yet. But he's all up in arms ready to "pay these bills". I dont' think it's about the bills - I think it's about the fact that he is just wanting to freak out about something and he won't let me know what it is or what I can do help.
When we spoke on the phone he was also all upset before the computer printer is broke and he's "had to work on that all morning" - we learned the computer was broke since 2/14, why the sudden urgency? We never use the silly thing. And if he had something to print, just e-mail it to his mom, she'd print it for him. But he's driving himself crazy and ignoring his kids!
He wakes up everyone morning with something wrong (ie. back hurting, headache) I am trying to help him see the bright side of his days before he gives himself a freakin' stroke but he is not cooperating! HELP!
I listened to it but have never seen the movies so I had no clue what it was or why it was supposed to be amusing. I know, I've lived a sheltered life! Movies are NOT my favorite thing to do and H is always amazed at my lack of movie exposure..all the things I've never seen. Cinemanymph would have a field day with me.
Honeypot, off to bake bread. Not funny or amusing but oh so yummy.
Happy, I have some ideas for you but will have to write later. D2 is eating doritos and that is a stay-right-there experience, lest my whole kitchen get painted orange with her slimy little fingers.
When my boys are of an appropriate age, I want to introduce them to Monty Python. I want them to develope an appreciation for silly, cerebral humor. It can help them get through some of lifes rough patches.
On a side note, my 2nd grader came home telling me that he just had to see "Napoleon Dynamite" and that it was "so funny". I've seen "Napoleon Dynamite" and thought it was hysterical. Although it did not contain any inappropriate situations or profanity, I just did not think it was the type of movie that would appeal to a 2nd grader, ie there are no cartoons, bathroom humor or situations where someone has to play a card game to save the world.
Cinema-looking on the bright side.

Watch this with your H! OK, maybe not. In this movie, the title character gets mixed up with Jesus and ends up getting crucified. Yes, it's a comedy. The final scene, which is the crucifiction scene, has another guy on a cross singing this song to Brian. Off the top of my head, I cannot thing of a more absurd movie scene.

I too grew up on Monty Python and quite a bit of British Humor in general in my house. My whole family has a sarcastic type of wit which I find really fun. My husband though isn't always quite sure what to do with me.
HappyMomo, I am a SAHM, also. It is the greatest and hardest job you'll never earn any money at. Notice I didn't say get paid for. You get payment, but it isn't monetary. I have a theory that if all of us SAHMs got together and used our collective organizational skills and persuasiveness (who has to be more persuasive than a mom trying to get her toddler to "please use the potty before we leave") we could really affect some social change. We are performing a vital social service by raising up our children to be adults that are socially, spiritually, and emotionally productive. For this, we are often rewarded with second class citizenry and financial unstability.
HappyMomo, Sorry for my rant, but as far as the money issue goes, I hear ya sista! My boys will be in school full time next year and I will be back to work I will not accept any job that doesn't allow for me to get them off to school and be home for them at the end of their day.
