Advertising is rife with gender typing. There are plenty of women in advertising. How much gender typing is there in an episode of Oprah? How damaging is gender typing? Don't many of the stereotypes that characterize gender typed images contain a grain of truth?

Movie producers make movies that are targeted for women. That is what makes a chick flick. W should understand that men are frequently turned off to chick flicks because they know the movies aren't speaking to them. The same goes for action flicks that are targeted toward men. How many buddy cop flicks are there that somehow end up in a strip club?

Good chick flick: "Terms of Endearment"
Bad chick flick: "Steel Magnolias"

And finally, HD, how do the two of you sit through a televised sporting event and make it to the end in one piece, given all of the blatantly sexist ads that they show? Maybe you don't even try.
