I'm with you, froggie. I actually brought up the "buffoon" stereotype to my W. She says it's not the same thing, because men are in control of the media, are writing the commercials, are writing the sit-coms, and it's okay for men to make fun of other men. It's not okay for men to make fun of women. She likens it to the "n - word." It's okay for a black person to say it, but not a white person. It's okay for a Jew to tell a Jewish joke, but not a non-Jew.
