Oh ladies, the concert rocked! Unfortunately they had to play on borrowed equipment (did there's get stuck at the border I wonder?...We're on a border with the U.S. of A.)
All three of us (and a tall goofy guy next to CJ) stood and sang along to most of the songs. They didn't play "Career of Evil" so we had to crank it on the ride home.
Of COURSE I remember albums....I still SAY "record and album" sometimes...my neices and nephews look at me like I'm ready for the old age home!
I woke up with a sore tooth today...blasted old 30 year old fillings! Time to bite the bullet I suppose...no time to worry about it, the dentist is squeezing me in today at 5.
Cath, I don't blame you at ALL for being somewhat cooking phobic. If your H and my pal's H would only realize that by being picky, being critical, they are working AGAINST their own best interests.
Sure I'm a great cook now...but I had a learning curve! Soem of my original dishes in our first apartment...well, lets just say they aren't on the menu any more. But it was CJ's appreciation and encouragement that allowed me to experiment and take chances and develop those skills with NO FEAR of judgement.
I will BET that if your H had been more like CJ in this regard you'd have a whole lot more cooking confidence....why is it some people don't "GET" the simplest rules of behaviourism .
Behaviours that are followed by rewards (yum this is good!) are much more likely to be repeated in the future.
Those that are punished (thunk! hunk of meat hitting the stove) are far LESS likely to be repeated....who wants to be cringing each time they serve dinner????
I once served H's picky husband D my famous quick red sauce with red pepper, celery, onion, garlic and zucchini over cheese filled ravioli (which I buy frozen from my italian food shop). He was digging in...it IS a great meal...his only comment? "There's not enough meat in here"
My reply? "That's good, D, because it's a vegetarian dish!"
Ugh...at least he's not MY H!
So I guess what I'm saying is that I completely understand where you're coming from. My pal H recently told D that she'd rather scrub out the toilet than cook for him!!!
Well with this tooth and some possible drilling at 5 p.m. looks like there will be no cooking at SB's place tonight!
