It may be fun to match up the headboard and trunk, perhaps with a darker tone to your powder blue, maybe even acquamarine. We have so many home decorating programs here its bliss to escape. I once saw them make a quilted headboard from eight pieces of square fibreboard - i reckon you could use the same technique - staplegun is all you need apart from the fabric and maybe some additional padding.
