I never had geeky tendencies, although my mom is an engineer--does that count for anything?!?
Well, I have always been academically inclined but not towards the math/science sector. In fact, the thought makes me shudder. Different strokes for different folks, eh.
I do feel, however, that I may have missed something all these years. In the past I usually cut off a date early if the guy was getting nerdy on me. Once I had a guy take me back to his house and sit down to play the piano for me. I thought it was going to be really romantic but he began playing "Sailing" and I couldn't keep the date mood going AT ALL. He ruined his chances with me right then and there. (shows ya how much fun I was to date..) Btw, that is a great song but it was a really poor choice for a date song, imo. He was nerdy and shy and up until then I was diggin him.
My type that I usually went for (and the type that I ended up marrying) was the somewhat quiet and funny and athletic guy. Looks didn't matter although he MUST be confident. Insecurity really bothers me after a while. H is insecure but I didn't know to what extent until I was already head over heels with him.

I am not a geek either. I was a cheerleader in high school, am very feminine (however you spell that, sorry, its been a long day) I did however play lots of sports, was athletic. I was good in school, good at math, but hated it. Was always pretty much in fashion, so the geek=HD isn't exactly true
I don't know if I would qualify as a nerd. In high school I was dating cheer leaders and nerds from the national honor society. Good girls and bad girls. I guess that I was a loner who never had to worry about filling a friday night. I am very HD - does this mean I am a nerd. BTW I am a machinist turned stay at home dad now.

What a thread this has turned into! MM imagines me as a walking Hallmark card (vs. thinking of the other guys stroking her breasts), and now she's identified all HDM as geeks as they drool and fawn over her blonde hair and large breasts. All because she said "Boolean". LOL
I'm not offended, MM. I'm proud to have that Don Knotts thing going for me. It's a safety feature for those "dark cloud" days.
Hijack and update - My W attacked me this morning and had an "Oh, Oh, OH...Dear God!", collapse in tears and convulsions experience. I'm thinking, "And you DON'T want this every day???"

First, no sex for the past 10 days, but I'm still keeping a positive attitude. In all honesty, this weekend was so busy that even I was so tired that I wasn't interested in sex by the time we managed to get to bed. Mornings were out too since we were leaping out of bed and "off to the races". It's good to be back at work so I can rest. W still seems "up" and things are going well, so I'm keeping a positive outlook. I'm sure I'll get laid in the next couple of days.
Then I have to weigh in on the geek issue. I don't know if I'm ready to buy into the geek=HD theory, but I guess I would qualify as a geek by a lot of definitions. I like motorcycles, camping, hiking, and guns (I even shoot competitively with service rifles and on a skeet league), but I’m a computer guy by vocation and I’m just incredibly fascinated with math and theoretical physics by avocation. Aside from SSM and PM (which I’m reading now), the last three books I read were one about quantum theory, one fairly old book (early 50’s) about relativity, and a much more recent one on string theory. I’ve been religiously following the recent evidence/theories that the speed of light really isn’t a constant. If the speed of light isn’t constant, Einstein is out the window. Fascinating stuff.
Heh... my W is a geek and she's not HD. Wait, she is a sports-playing tomboy turned geek, so maybe that's just faux-geekish? Hmmmmm. As if I didn't have enough things to think about!
