Hi Jackie, I been lurking around, been doing this too long to bump my own thread. I had a summer flying job lined up but then the work didn't materialize so I spent most of the summer with s6. WAW and s6 are still living with her dad, she talked about moving to her own place but I didn't want s6 to change schools and so nothing has changed in that department. He is in a really good school and I think we're both happy about that, just started grade 1. This might be a DBing first, certainly something to shake your head about - I went to drop off s6 one day and got invited to my WAW's boss's 40th birthday party (waw got s6 to ask me) so why not?? We had cedar planked salmon, baked oysters and tons of other food. His friends made him a pinata with those mini bottles of booze, none of which broke somehow when beaten with a stick. For those not familiar with my sitch my WAW's boss her sister's ex. and they had at least an emotional affair when this all started two years ago.
More recently, WAW contacted me about helping with s6 before and after school as her job is very long hours and her dad isn't going to be available every day. Last year she had quite a few people doing favours for her in this regard and I think they are mostly used up. I told her I would be happy to, if she could help out in the money department. So I'm happy we are headed in this direction. S6 is doing fine, he is still quite sad when I drop him off, but no scenes like last year. Still going to church with s6 every sunday, I have him FRi-Sun every weekend and most of the week during the summer. Last night WAW was working late so I took him to her Dad's, who made us dinner, then went grocery shopping while I gave s6 a bath and put him to bed. Then I helped grandpa with his digital camera then went home to bed.
Sounds like everything is cordial between you and W. I can't believe how quickly the little guys are growing. I have about 6 hours a day now to myself and I don't know where the time goes, between work and house work -- yikes! Are you working now? You quit the sales job, didn't you? I lurk around here, too! My sister paid an unexpected trip home from Germany and she and H seemed to patch things up. However, it seems like her M is in serious trouble. Never a dull moment. Hope you are enjoying the autumn weather, we are having a great fall down here.
Not much new here. Working a little bit with a landscaping company, I met the owner at church and he is very understanding of my need to be available for s6. Received some money at Christmas and some about a week ago from waw in recognition of the time and commitment I've been showing towards him.
We seem to check in around the same time. Watching the snow fall at the moment, H is in Florida enjoying some sunshine on the company's dime (which means I get to shovel, exercise at least). Things going fairly well, though we both blew V-day (think we'd know better by now). Decided not to do cards or gifts and both felt let down. How big a duh do we need?
H did agree to a trip to Germany this spring to visit my sister, so repair work continues to go well there. Kids are growing up way too fast, can't believe yours is 6. Where does the time go?
How's W doing? Any change in her attitude, or still the same routine?
hey you lurker! waw is the same, I'm pretty much done DBing as far as having a goal of getting back together. The great part is that it was also the best thing for preserving my relationship with s6.
At Christmas (I should post more!) it was my turn to have s6 over so I told waw she could come over first thing for opening presents, she came over before s6 was awake and we had coffee and a chat before anyone else was up (my parents were over too) She took s6 to a friends in the afternoon and was going to drop him back off before dinner but then she stayed for dinner uninvited!! If I had asked her she wouldn't have come but my parents didn't understand how that works.
Last Sunday after church, s6 and I ran into waw in Staples (big box office supply store) and she bought s6 some paint and brushes he needed for a school project, then came over later and helped paint, even brought Tim-bits and some other snacks.
In the moving on department, I have been going out quite a bit, nothing serious yet but I went to a great Valentine's dance with a FF. We were planning on leaving at 1 but stayed til 4:30 best time I've had in a LONG time!! She also like chess, which I only really have played for a couple of years, mainly against s6!! So she kicks my ass everytime but I think I'll win in the end.
Hey DB - Where've ya been? Its nice to see old friend post from time to time and let us know what's up. Too many people leave the bb and never check in. Its a loss to the rest of us.
You sound like you've got it all together. I'm so happy for you. You are also right - DB helped your R with your son. It also helped you. Made sure you left no stone unturned - I doubt you'll regret that.
As for me - I finally got my financial settlement. Had to pay out big bucks but I have my house and my sanity. Not so sure about him. I really feel good about it now and little or no contact with him at all.
I am still dating Josh (almost a year now). He makes me happy. We've never had a cross word. This is not something I am used to. No plans - just enjoying each day as it happens.
Still travelling a lot. Just got back from Florida yesterday with Ashley - off on a cruise at the end of next week (also with her and a friend).
So - thanks for the update. I still post, but I'm under Surviving the Big D now.
Hi Barb, glad you got your settlement settled! I think of my friends here often and try not to imagine what my life would have been like without the support I got here. I'll check up on your thread soon. Hi to Josh.
Do you ever check in? How is life going? What is your email address these days? I'm at limenlager@aol.com, but I'm planning to shut down aol in a week or so---budget constraints, losing my job. Let me know how you are doing.
can't stay away too long! I bought a house, working two jobs and not too much else is new. Going to work soon but I just found a piece of paper with my password on it!
