Quick journal. Slowly, this is for you because I had to follow my own advice to you in your thread. Fortunately, I caught it right away. But it didn't have anything to do with eating.

Mr. Wonderful just phoned and started out the convo:

MW: "Bets, I have a little emergency and I need your help. Actually, it's a favor."

Me: "Okay. What?"

MW: "I got a call from Doodlebutt and he reminded me I signed up to play on the work golf foursome today for a benefit. My problem is that the guys I could call to sub for me are all on vacation together in Mazatlan, so I have to do it. Is there any way you can pick up D7 from camp?

I know it means you have to miss working out, but maybe I can help by taking her to my apt for the night?"

Me: I don't like giving her up when I'm supposed to have her. "Sure, I can pick her up. No problem."

MW: "The truth is, I really want to hang out and play with her and get a few cuddles from my little cuddle monster."

Me: "I understand. Are you sure? I had a nightmare with the bus issue with summer school starting today. She's really grumpy."

MW: "Good, then I can give you a break tonight."

We signed off and I immediately hit his autodial number to call him back....

Me: "K, I'm sorry if I sounded so rigid before. Of course, you can take D7 tonight. I really don't want to sound like a butthead."

MW: Laughing hard. "I didn't think you were a butthead. I was just grateful that you were so flexible about missing your workout because of my miscommunications with you. I really, really appreciate it."

Me: Smiling. "My pleasure."

We then discussed D10 and how she is really dreading coming home... and her exciting morning riding in the police helicopter. He was most interested in hearing how she fared in that, and I was happy to relay her excitement about it, right down to the emergency landing so they could chase an armed car jacker, without her on board...

So I guess it's never too late to learn flexibility and humility. Jeez, I keep hoping I don't have to take this class anymore. How come it keeps popping up for me?

I can't wait to graduate from this University of Hard Knocks!!!
